Dude you dont need to buy software for the zen to work. It comes with everything to install and then all you have to do is download limewire or you can pay for something and just load up the zen. I personally suggest napster if you get a zen because it has a lot of songs and you never get different song names on the player itself but if you can't or don't want to pay for that then just get limewire for free off the website.

the software is ok and the player is great but mine broke about 4 months after i bought it cuz its not resistant if you drop it
