my bro goes there and ive been up there quite a bit. so much ish you can do. lake padden is sick to just float around on in the warmer times. im hyped on it.
gonna try to get into the mathes or nash window view of the bay
i'm down. so far: i love bellingham. my roommate in mammoth this season (i took the year off) was from WWU and she inspired me to apply.. as i am from the east coast and had never heard of it until then. after i was laid off at my job on the mountain, i took a trip up to visit the school and had a superlative time there.. my experience was being frequently or rather, constatly high (which goes well with studying for me), and shrooming at Larrabee state park.. it embarked the perfect impression and i can not wait until summer is over and i will be attending!!
another good aspect is the quarterly system which i'm hoping to attend the first two quarters, take the spring quarter off and ski mammoth, then perhaps utilize the summer as more school time and whatnot..
Bellingham is so awesome...I hate living so close yet so far away...damn Deming. There's tons of awesome stuff in the Bham area, but I can't access it cause I have no car/live in the sticks.
Western seems like an awesome school, I've been there tons of times of field trips and stuff...but I couldn't handle going to college in the same county where my parents live...I need space.
NOTE: If you plan on working at Baker, DO NOT be food service! They get the LEAST ski time, and no gear benefits. Ski instructing is a good alternative if you don't mind dealing with little kids (Which is why I quit haha), and you CAN get pro-forms your first year. Also, you can just work on weekends, and they have some specialized freestyle instructors, if you can prove you're good enough to teach park.
Food service sucked so bad for my homie, being janitor on weekends is actually better, because if you work at the upper lodge, during the spring when its closed, you don't have to work at all!
Oh theres urban, you just don't know where to look. Jp with you brian, but there is a ton of rails, just not too many people like it. Lots of skiers and boarders up at baker.
