So last night was st. patricks day, and of course the only right thing to do if you're irish is to drink. well my band played a show at a buddy's party and then we all chilled and drank. but of course the cops show up and issue roughly 30 consumption/possesion tickets, me included. now i'm 18 so i'm considered an adult and don't need my parents to be present at my court hearing, so i dont have to tell them anything. i don't know though if i should just go ahead and tell them what happened and face it, or keep it quiet and hope court goes good and i get off free. i need some help..
the more "responsible" thing would be to tell them, that way if something does go down they can be there to help you out, ect. plus if they found out afterwards, ohh shit they'd be pissed.
i would tell them. i would tell them that i started my first beer when the cops came and that it was st.patty's day so it was legit cause you are irish. i'd tell them a modified dulled down version of what happened
no dont be stupid, dont tell em at all, you wont even get in trouble, mayeb besides a small fine, if you dont wanna lose their trust then dont tell em, would they even care though? i mean you are 18
they would definately care, but i've never been in this type of situation really with them so i don't know how it will all unfold. but i think that if i didnt tell them now and shit goes down later, then i'd be fucked
It depends.... if you tell them they'll probably be pissed, but if they find out by themselves they'll be more pissed...
Idk if it's a risk to take or not..
but I think you'll lose their trust in both ways, tho I think if you tell them , it'll be not as worse as if they find out
You should tell them they will find out somehow...but if u live at home and u decide not to tell them make sure you check the mail for the next week... alot of places will send notification through the mail!!
my parents would be PISSED no doubt if i told them something like that, but they would rather have me tell them then a court or something, or have me tell them after the fact of the court date.
if you tell them now they'll be angry but they'll get over it, but if they somehow find out later they'll be way more pissed, because on top of getting caught you lied to them.
you should tell them but play it down completely, just say to them that you want to do the "responsible thing" and be honest i had a similar situation and i didnt tell them, and they were fucking pissed
so just go for it
your 18, tell them it was the first time you drank or something
the attitude you seem to have about the situation, pretty nonchalant about getting the ticket, makes me feel like your parents are at least aware of the fact that you drink/ have drank before. i would just tell them, yes they will be pissed but itll be better in the end.
u have to bring your parents with u so the judge feels sorry to do anything but give u a slap on the wrist.believe me ive seen it happen many of times in court.so ya just tell them say your sorry and ask them to go with u.
just tell them. my parents fully know that i smoke and drink and have no problem with it because im responsible about it. building trust with the rents is what its all about its always better in the end just to be straight out with it to them.
well i told my mom and she was pissed at first but it worked out alright and now she knows i drink and whatnot but im not dumb about it, so i guess it worked out for the best, but i still have to go to court.... dammit.
i was in this situation not too long ago except with weed. i told them, they were on my case for a couple weeks but it blew over and everythings cool now
dude chill, it seems to me that he's already done the right thing by telling his parents and hopefully everything turns out good in court. I just think it's ridiculous that the cops even bother sending kids to court for drinking
The 21 year old drinking age is boggles my mind. whats the point in having people wait till they are 21 to drink. My buddy moved down to Arizona state from Calgary and got a drinking ticket when he was 20. they were gonna kick him out of school because the RA found beers and a bottle of jack in his room. That shit is crazy. I suggest you fess up. your parents are not going to be pissed if you down play it to just a couple beers.
Tell them dude. I tell my parents everything, like last week I had a couple drinks but had a concussion (doctor at the ER said it was stupid) but I told my dad before hand that I did it and it was stupid so when the doctor asked, my dad wasn't upset (Im 18). It all works out if you're honest.
You said it perfect...i tried to hide a court appeance for drink driving from my parents. Said i couldn't afford to run a car no more so thats why i'd no longer be driving. Two week after court, when i thought everything was fine, my gran spotted it in the local newspapers 'court report'.
naw, man you've gotta go into court and tell the judge that you're an orphan and your parents died in a freak gasoline fight accident
that'll get their sympathy
when you wrote down you info they'll mail you a thing and so will an atourney bc they always give out more info to lawyers for more money. So your gonna get something in the mail. becareful you parents dont see that and youll be in the clear
i told mine after they found out and both were chill with it. id tell them and say you could use some help clearing it out!! you dont want that shit on your record- i hierd an attourny and all is good now!!
good luck pal, pm if you want some more addvice in the sito
