Ive skied Mt. Rose for 15 years. People call it Mt. Blows for a reason.
The chutes are really fun on pow days, but the rest of the time they are icy and/or hard packed moguls. I find wild card alot more fun than i do the Chutes. There are some great cliffs in the chutes, but not very many tight chutes. They aren't as challenging at Rose builds them up to be. I think i was 10 when i first did the, and I have seen plenty of kids that look about 7-9 bomb them. Rose just really over sells the chutes because its all they have
Mt Rose. is absolutely terrible at building parks, and they aren't very big. The landings of jumps are kind of small and if you dont have the perfect speed you will be screwed. They did get a new park crew this year though and are slowly improving
Lastly, and personally the worst part of rose in my opinion, is for some reason it attracts the biggest assholes ever who feel the need to trash park skiers. So many people think they rule the mountain (and no it's not me being a douche on the mountain, ive never had a problem at any other mountain) I was once doing acro skiing(ski ballet) on pondo and a lady came up and told me i wasn't allowed to do dangerous tricks like that on green runs.
People used to duck the lines to ski them. But they were closed for a reason.
I ski rose all the time its good skiing as long as you know where to go!
Again, ive skied rose for 15 years. Its pretty mediocre skiing. The only reason people go to Rose is because it's close. Now im also aware that Rose is doing a 60 acre expansion withing the next 3 years and in their blue prints they are making a park specific area and a new lodge which would be nice. But if you are looking for good skiing, look elsewere because Rose is not it.
