I ve been thinking about moving there. Can you help me with the pros and cons of living there. Im used to skiing a lot of park but want to get into more big mountain skiing. Are there chilling people to ride with and whats the city like?

its big, rains alot, and fun bars....costs alot to live there, but it certainly gives you the chance to do some many different thigs year round

When you say rains alot, how much is that? and is that in the winter too? also does it rain more then kalowna?

well they don't usually get much snow there, so it rains all year...but i mean there can be some time were weeks go by and it is just sun....i don't know about K-town?

Uh, YES it rains more in Vancouver than it does in Kelowna. Kelowna is part of a semi-arid desert.

rains a lot more than a lot. We set the rain record for the most consecutive days of rain this year.. like 40 days of consecutive rain. It was awesome. the big mtn riding sucks out of vancouver.. its all mostly park at the local mtn which are 15-30minutes from vancouver but there is tons of big mtn riding at whistler and baker which are both only 2 hours away.

Vancouver is, overall, a pretty sweet place to live. The local skiing is better than 99% of east coast mountains, the people are chill, the weather is rad once you learn to deal with rain (it rains a lot, you learn to love it, or move to whistler...) and the chicks are hot. If you time it right, you can hit the beach in the morning and ski in the afternoon. Lastly, coffee here is amazing, so if you're a caffeine addict, welcome.

Of course, heaven isn't cheap. Vancouver is more expensive to live in than any major city in Canada (including Toronto), and there are annoyances. The rain, the asian drivers (all of them), and the fact that if you do drive, it takes you 3 hours to get anywhere because there are no highways in this fucking city. Of course, no highways=a more livable city overall, so the tradeoff is worth it, kinda.

Basically, if you can afford it, Vancouver is dope as fuck.

Right. You've got beaches, mountains, ocean, lakes, rivers, lots of parks, sunshine in the summer, mild temps all year and a breathtaking view. The only thing this city is missing in my opinion is big waves to go surf.

From the very basic and low level research I've done in artificial surf breaks (I'm not a scientist/oceanographer/whatever), if the city really wanted to, and was willing to spend the money...

Vancouver is definitely the best place to live in. That is, if you consider that it's a dope town, lots of things to do, and surrounded by mountains and the ocean. People are relaxed, west coast atmosphere, lots of cultures, lots of hippies. Then, you gotta meet people, make friends, and see if you like it, but it's a place like nowhere else.

Van is alright, but the Shore is easily the best place to live in the lower mainland. Closest to whis, chill, not lotsa bums and shit but uber expensive to live there... Mountains in your backyard too... The rain does get to you but then you just go to whis for a while

ya.... there r some pretty cool people at grouse, if u wanna ski the shore, ski at grouse cause cypress sucks, and seymore is too far away.

Its 'expensive' but if you take the time, you can find great places for not that alot. Rains alot...not as much as these guys say, The summers are great, winter is great. its is wonderful

my main beef is how expensive it is, and how trendy of a city it is.

It one of the only big cities you'll find the ocean and moutains so close. Its truely one of a kind.
