Im getting back into it after several years.


Ive been looking at a haro mirra 540, and a specialized fuse 3


any experience with either, or suggestions for under 500 canadian.


Ill be doing some chitty cement urban park stuff and urban riding.

Urban, some urban park stuff, but it is all cement, some rail setups we will make.

yeah try like fit or eastern or something haros are really popular so get a bike that no1 has :)

I have an eastern, and its been awesome. You can always get a less expensive bike and then upgrade/change it how you want to. Also I'd recommend you check out http://www.bmx-forum.com/ they're really helpful there, and you'll probably get a lot more information.

The Mirra 540 and Fuse 3 are good beginners bike. For under 500$ cdn bucks there arent a lot of choice for good completes. Haro's are a litle heavy but they're built like tanks (frame) and Specialized bikes are well built (nice parts like Truvativ cranks and stuff like that).

Shop around maybe you can find something else but for the price they are relatively good to begin with. I know because I bought an Haro F4 last summer and my friend bought a Spec's Fuse3 and so far they've hold up very nicely.

i'd suggest my hoffman rhythm el1 that i won from right guard. only 100 were made in the dope green color and i'd give it to you for around $200 usd.

the dk is nice...i got a fuse 2 a couple years ago to bring to my cottage and im pretty happy with it so far..if you get it make sure you upgrade some of the stock parts though (i fucking hate gyros)

kind of lame to say, but i like the fuse 3s colour better, so that is kind of leaning me towards it

small problem with the fuse is that it comes stock with dual lower cable routes. NOt sure what there called but the things that hold ure cables in place. Anyways if u were to get rid of the gyro it might be a lil tricky trying to run a single cable because you have no cable holder in the center which makes a huge difference in breaking power. I have this on my street frame and it sucks, i drilled a hole through the seat tube to get better power. Just a lil heads up on that.

breaking is pretty crucial to me, since id ride it around town and traffic alot too, and i bike fast

you should have just got a longer traddke cable, so you could go AROUND instead of THROUGH. my brother had to do the same thing.

every one says dan's comp, but those bikes come in boxes and someone has to put it together, so you could do it yourself, and have a shitty bike no matter how good the parts are, or you can bring it to a shop, piss them off by bringing in a bike you didn't buy from them, and have them charge you money to get your bike working properly. I know, I work at a shop. Haro makes a sweet bike, I prefer the nyquist over the mirra, but I ride more trails, and the mirra wasn't really made for that. The fuse is a really solid bike, specialized did a good job with that, but the same priced haro will be a better bike.I think the nyquist compares better to the fuse also. I am not a big fan of left side drive, so watch out for that too. I gaurantee you your shop can get you eastern, and maybe a few other companies as well, they just don't stock high end bmx, because it doesn't always sell well. Just ask them to see the "Q" catalogue, and they'll think you know what you are talking about too. So overall, I would talk to your shop. And get your bike from your shop, it'll end up working out better for you. As for all the niche brads, such as fit, volume, sand m etc. they end up costing a lot as completes, so remember that too.

Yeah i was planning to do my shop, there isnt really a bmx scene here. The shop sells; specialized, dk, wethepeople, free agent, hoffman, and redline.




There is a place that sells haros and shit about an hour away

allright, the main thing you are looking for when you buy a bike then when comparing all of them side by side is a chrome rear rim. no joke, that we bit of difference will make or brake your riding, black rims don't stop for shit, and make tricks like tire taps and fuf's impossible. then after that go to feel, all of those companies make a good geometry on their bikes, so you don't really have to wory about that, just ride around the ones that have those parts. I'm really serious about the rim though, all the other parts on the bikes should be about the same. don't go with hoffman anymore because they sold out to a major retailer, and their products will now be obsolete. I would look really hard at the specialized, and the dk. wethepeoples complete's tend to lack really good stock parts, so it'll feel good, but it won't hold up.

good call on the brakes. But neither of the two come with the chrome rim. but if u set them up right ull still be able to get decent braking, looking into some sticky brake pads will make a big difference too and wil be allot cheaper then buying a new rim.

the fuse comes with the same rim that is usually on rim brake mtn bikes, that will stop just fine, allthough I would add some sticky brake pads to the mix also. That's probably the best choice, and the rest of the parts/ geometry is solid, I'd go with that one.

ya those rims for sure work fine when u have v brakes, but U brakes is a dif story. But again, sticky pads are ure best bet with any rim.

ok well from my point of view and experience for a starter set-up i'd definatley be willing to say go for either a FIT complete or a hoffman complete. The rythm is a great build aslong as you go for the IL 1 model because it comes with a good 21" toptube frame and full chromo tubing instead of the models bellow that which come in nasty head tube lengths and crappy rear triangle material which will bend/dent easier plus be heavier. The FIT team is good also but if you can afford it i would go for the FIT FLOW because it'll save alot of upgrades straight out of the box. i.e it has a decent fully sealed cassette rear hub, pretty decent 3 piece cranks, good gear sizing, full chromo 4130 frame with decent geometry so yeah it'll ride good, erm also decent forks,bars,stem, etc etc so if i were to go out and buy a complete today thats probably what i'd buy. But obviously if you want it to feel exactly how you want you'll have to build up a custom set-up as i'm sure you no. But thats when it starts getting pricey, for instance my new frame "The Take ivy" cost me $310 but then you wana no that the headtube ain't guna fall off doing on a 30ft set of trails cus dirt hurts wow that's far more than enough of my ramblings! hope whatever bike yah go for yah have fun riding :)

it depends on how much $ youre willing to drop...my friend just got a wethepeople 4seasons..smoothest, most flickable thing ive ever ridden..it just depends on how much youre willing to spend, the fuse is still a good option, just remember to upgrade a couple things, itll make the ride that much better

Yeah, when i go into the shop im gonna try the fuse and the six pack for a bit of time each to see what i like more. Unfortunately i dont know of any places that sell fits in vancouver so that is out
