Closest to beach and surf but still close to skiing.

I bet it's been asked before but I can't find it/searched....

Wheres the ideal location to be near/on the beach but still a short drive to the mountain....which beach/costal areas are the shortest drive time to the mountain basically? I'm thinkin mainly CA, but which areas?

Hands down So Cal. takes it for true big mountain skiing and really good surf!
MT. Baldy in So. Cal is about 45 miles from downtown L.A., and about 50 miles from the best waves in South Orange County. You can see the Pacific from Baldy, and they just got 10 more inches of snow today! Should be a sick Easter ski and surf Session! At the Beach today in a storm , on the hill tomarrow in Powder. Its all good ......(except the traffic)

Eugene is 45 mins if you drive fast to florance (idk how good the surfing is) then its an hour and 45 mins to willamette pass, an hour and 30 mins to hoodoo, 3 hours to mt ashland, 2.5 to bachelor, 3 hours (i think) to hood, sounds really bitching to me,

try mount washington on vancouver island it should be between 2-3 hours apart and i also heard that you can ski hood in the morning and head out for a surf session that night

yeah, oregon, or washington. seattle area you have quite a few mountains at your disposal, and then wesport to surf, not super epic breaks, but good enough, and then oregon to surf isn't too bad of a drive.

In new plymouth the beach is 20min drive from the beach. and there can be some fucken going skiing to be done, and some huge surf produced. You got to come here some time Mark

Southern california is the closest as posted above, but the skiing sucks. Last spring we skied powder in Tahoe, waterskiing in Stockton and finished up the day with head high surf in Santa Cruz. I don't think you can beat Northern California for 'water' sports

go for san francisco dude, ocean beach can go off, ive had plenty of days where its just perfect double overhead a-frames all up and down the beach. be warned, ocean beach gets heavy and the paddle can be insanely brutal, guaranteed at least 20 minutes on a big day. ob is a bit open to the winds though, it needs e winds or no wind at all. there are also other spots around the area, pacifica is good on small/medium swells and south winds. and there are certain other spots north of ob but not quite over the golden gate..... ill leave those for you to discover. just dont piss off the locals there. i live in oakland right across the bay, and it takes me about 45 minutes to get to ob, and 3 hours for tahoe. all in all, the surf in sf isnt as good as other areas south of it, but it can go off, especially in the fall when the e winds and clean swell come. these pages have some sick pics of ob:
