I was on a box today and there was a screw loos and i hit it and it took a chunk out of my bas to the foam core 2cm long and 1 cm wide. i dont no if i should take it in to the shop or just buy some ptex and do it myself. wil the shop do a good job? probably, but really affect my ski will it??? i dont wanna ride till its fixed in fear of getting stuf in the hole
the shop can base weld it which is the strongest way to repair it. if you want to do it yourself, cover the foam with epoxy and buy a ptex candle. the ptex will usually crack out after a day or two, but its a lot cheaper than taking it to get a base weld.
Yay what i do for stuff down to the core is epoxy if the core is coming out. and then fill it with ptex. ski a few days and refill. this was the process for when my granpa left the tip of his iron on his bandits. it had the same things you described!
Take it to a shop. Any repair you do will not be as durable or smooth as something a shop will do. It should be $20 max for just a base weld. The head tuner where I work just uses epoxy for his core shots though, he says it's easier and more durable.
