I ski on the east coast and want a fat ski for "powder days" and when i go out west. I already have this years ar5s and was looking either sumos or elizabeths? Which ski would be better for those rare powder days and skiing outwest. I want something that skis well switch in powder for backcountry jumps and whatnot. Thanks
Neither the Vicious or Elizabeth is what you want IMO. Unless you like making super tight turns the Elizabeth is probably the wrong ski for you because of the massive ammount of sidecut. But then again I've never skied the Elizabeth, so I'm making assumptions. If your looking for a true quiver ski, fuck anything under 110 in the waist. How about some Thugs,EHPs,ANTs,Spats, Sanouks, FatyPuss,or Prophet 130s? If your on a budget Powder Pluses would also be great. If you dont want an all out quiver ski, and want something that can still handle variable conditions it opens up a lot more choices. The Gotamas, Pimps, Mojo 105 are good choices for that. If you are a bigger guy and can ski look at Supermojos, BROs, Legend Pros,Titan Pros, or used Iggies. If you are not a strong skier do not even consider the 5 skis in the last sentence. They WILL kick your ass. Also search Big Mountain to get more info,
have you ever seen a sumo in person?they are not THAT wide. especially when your skiing on 12+ inches, but a gotama would be more versatile. but then you also have to look at the title of the thread. he wants a quiver ski, which the gotama isnt.
i suppose but hed sure as hell use the gotoma more...and i have seen the sumos and they are quite wide...fattest ski ive seen (granted ive only skied out west once)
no doubt, but if he want a true quiver ski, the gotama is not it. the gotama would deffinately be a wiser choice. personally ill be skiing 2 skis that are 100+ in the waist next year, 3 skis over 90 in the waist next year. i really dont feel like i get any more out of a skinner ski. ill never buy a ski under a 85mm waist from now on.
I want something thats gonna be fun to ski not really like an ak big mountain ski cuz im on the east and i dont go heli skiing, i want something that will work in trees and backcountry kickers. Thanks for the help
Would the sumos be impossible to ski in anything but powder, because they don't have much of a side cut. I really want the elizabeths that sounds like the best choice or the jp juliens or gotamas. So if anyone has seen any deals on any of these please let me know. I think the arv and scratches are more of a one ski quiver and not really what im looking for
