RIP Teddy Knape / T3 Media

Teddy passed away dooing what he loved today. He was the main filmer for Theory-3 media, and was the guy responcible for capturing some of the best most progressive new school skiing.

Teddy, was the nicest guy I have ever met and was the more stoked about skiing than anyone I have ever met. For the last three years, Teddy has been at my side shooting video everyday I have been shooting stills. I had justgotten back from shootingan entirely new area today, and was trying to call him about it when Jeffy called telling me that Teddy passed away while filming the K2 Back 9 in Whistler. Teddy was a mid-west kid that moves out west to full fille his life dream of filming skiing, and studying plastics engineering. He died doing what he had always wanted to do, and had an amazing life the few short years he was around. Hde will be sorely missed and are entire sport will fill his abscence.

RIP Buddy, I hope that you are gettin endless blower powder runs and nailling all of that A stock foottage up there.

my heart goes out to all who knew teddy -- sounds like he truly was the man. dealing with death at such a young age is as difficult as anything life can throw at us, but it sounds like teddy's positive spirit and outlook on life has made it easier to remember the good times he created while he was here. rest in peace brother.

No, that's Teddy Blank. Teddy Knape was Skier10322 on ns... He had a pink name. He didn't post as much recently.

teddy, the first thing I noticed about you right off the bat was how nice you were. A genuinely kind person with a warm heart always makes you feel good; naturally and easily.

I may have not been nearly as close to Teddy as others, or not really knowledged with a strong history of who he was and where he came from. All I am aware of is the powerful affect that Teddy Knape had on everyone around him, best friends, peers, strangers, and young people who are setting their goals to follow his footsteps. This still comes as a imense shock to me that such a kind, shy, generous and truely good guy could so gracefully be taken away. Any time I heard a story about Teddy the teller would be grinning and wide eyed with a unique twinkle in their eye which I knew could only be generated from this loving individual Teddy, and I know he had a undescribable rare effect that can make people very simply happy, and good feeling about yourself which solemly comes and goes in wonderful peoples lives. Now Teddy has gone-and I believe that his existance was a beautiful reality on others surrounding him-and his existance will always be there in somebody getting stoked on a fresh powder run, or in any other ambitious human being happily loving their life. Rest In Peace-I know you have changed others thoughts and futures with your reflective attitude.

I've been reading this thread all day and I still don't know what to say...words can't really express how I feel or sum up the tragic loss felt by everyone who loved Teddy Knape.

Teddy touched many people with his kindness and wonderful sense of humour. His blue eyes, smile, and charming accent were the focal point of any room he graced. Teddy loved skiing, film making, and most of all, his friends and family. He overcame great odds to live a life full of passion and energy, and he brought out those qualities in everyone around him.

Teddy's last day was, I'm sure he would say, one of his best and he left us doing what he loved more than anything.

...I miss you already, Teddy, and I know we'll all miss you more as we are forced to spend more and more time surrounded by your absence. I'll never forget your voice. Love you Tedwin.

The very first time I met Teddy Knape he instantly became one of my best buddies, he was that kind of guy. Right now is one of the first times in my life that I can't think of anything to say (especially because its about Teddy). I don't think there are any words in any language that would do Teddy Knape justice. All I know is that Teddy was way way way way way too good to me. He was so nice and so genuine and such a first rate friend. He was always ready to go skiing and always ready to motivate me to go skiing. Last Monday, the day before he went to whistler, he told me I was "soft" for trying to tell him that my 3 papers that were due tuesday were not going to let me go skiing that day. That changed my mind and I sure am glad he did. The weather was really shitty and Teddy was pretty sure that he had just experienced one of the scariest moments in his life by skiing down the Shuksan Arm when the wind was blowing 20 mph and you couldn't see two feet in front of you and I was just watching him, horrified that it was going to slide any moment, but it ended up being one of the most fun days I have ever had. Just about every day i skied with Teddy were the most fun days of the seasons. I am pretty sure he could do just about anything and this is especially incredible because he had a hampering heart problem that you could never guess he had. Teddy, thank you for putting up with me so well and thanks for being such a brilliant friend. I'm going to miss the hell out of you. You will be my tour guide for the rest of my life.

I cant imagine how hard it must be for his friends and family right now, I never met him but heard so much about him and knew who he was, and still this thread is hard to read. It's such a heavy loss for everyone, for those who were close to him as well as for those who weren't. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends, and may his legacy live on forever...RIP Teddy.

Ahh Teddy I'm gonna miss you buddy...I remember our freshman year at Western, we lived in the dorms right next to eachother, and we both had ordered skis online and were constantly checking to see if eachothers had arrived yet, and we both came over when our skis finally did arrive and were so stoked, and the times watching movies in your room, all the premieres we hung out at, man, I was so fortunate to know you...everything people are saying about you being the one person who was always positive about everything is so true, you always had a smile on your face and put everyone around you in a good mood. You were a rare breed Teddy, in such an amazing way, and I think people can learn something valuable from how you lived your life. I know I have. Thanks for the memories.

By the way, I propose that someone or some group of people take over Teddy's beer brewing so we can continually drink to Teddy....I never got a chance to try it but always wanted to. I don't know anything about brewing beer but seems like a good time to learn.

my friends up here at western are really good at brewing i acctualy think one of them had an engenering class with teddy. maybe some how i can get his ingrediant list and proportions and see if they can brew up a batch.

I still don't know what to say. Teddy was such a awesome guy, his love of skiing and positive attitude rubbed off on everyone around him. I only recently got to know Teddy well, but the days I skied with him and the nights I drank with him were some of my most enjoyable. Teddy was having such a great year and getting to travel all over and do what he loved to do. He had already accomplished a lot but that should have only been the beginning for him. This is a great loss for anyone who knew Teddy as well as the entire skiing community. We will miss you Teddy.

i actually have no idea who teddy is but it is always sad news when a close friend or relative dies, he sounded like an amazing guy who had as much love for skiing as he did for he own life. from the pictures it looks like he was way too young too die. i know how it feels and its really a shitty feeling, he has left a positive imprint on so many peoples lives, rest in peace teddy knapes

I just never even thought I'd see a thread with this title. Never thought I'd be leaving a comment in response to this thread.
Teddy, we miss you so much. Surely, very few people understand the magnitude of your absence from our lives. Every time I started to get beat up about the trials of this industry, you were always smiling and reminding me why this is a lifestyle, not a recreation. Thank you for what you have given me and everyone you you met.
