tip/tail height

I've always wondered that as well man. I've pretty much only ridden line skis so it's not usually a problem but the few times I've ridden my friend's oldschool 1080's or 720's especially I've felt hella sketch about landing switch in even remotely chunky conditions. If you're going to twin tip a ski why the fuck wouldn't you just make a decent sized tip instead of fucking around with a halfassed twin?

K2 started doin it with the new public enemys, they say the higher the tip is-the harder it is to turn, and the shorter it is- the easier it is to turn, but if ur a half decent skier it doesnt really matter

aerodynamics, and not all people think they need two tipper thigns cause they aint gonna be doin flippers

i have a pair of skogens and they are not very hard to turn, and they have fat ass tails. But who the fuck cares, turning is for pussys.

I always thought that a twin tip ski released out of turns more easily than a non twinned ski...
And perhaps Line patented the 'real twin-tip' idea, leaving the competition to have to make tails that don't have quite the same rise as tips? Maybe not, and I'm not ripping on Line, I'm just guessing. Skis with half twin tips piss me off too.

it seems to me that if you have the tails turned up at all the supposed loss in turning ability would be the same no matter how high they were (you're still losing the same amount of carving edge)

Yeah, i dunno. For example, I rode my friends Enemies, and I did not like riding switch at all. It didn't feel safe, or as clean.

the higher the tip is at the tail, the less edge hold you will have. so basically the ones with a half ass twin are probably supposed to be a more all mountain ski
