Ok, i'm going to guess that you have a bootsole length of between 311-330 mm, and that your shop put you down as a 'type 3' skier. That means that your DIN being at five is accurately done, according to the DIN chart at http://www.terrymorse.com/ski/din.html
So if you're not releasing, maybe you're not falling hard enough. Have your shop double check your bindings, just in case.

your problem is the bindings...look and rossi bindings are characteristic for NOT releasing when they should. ask if you can watch someone test them, and you'll see that they're releasing at higher values than is acceptable. get new bindings, thats all there is to it.

and dude, you want to release when you fall, if you have it so they dont release, thets basiclly fucking yourself over, you said your afraid to fal, i would rather fall and have my skis come off then be caght in my skis when i fall, i way like 160 and my din is 4, and they release at all the rigfht times, but when the lady said your knees, she meant its to protect your knees

yea and you may have a faulting binding,,, there is alot of shit going on in a binding and alot of shit that can go wrong.. Have em checked out. And for the person who said that they set their dims at like 4 at 160lbs thats stupid, you'll pop out when you land back in the pipe.....

I have rossignol scratch p100's and i have them set at the same DIN. I am 5'9' and 140ish, and i fall out very rarely. I love these bindings.

i dont know what you people are talkin about that looks and rossi's dont release when they should. I have tested them out, and also other bindings, and rossi's and looks test out closer to din chart values than any other binding besides the line pivogy's. theres my two cents

mine are 10 or so and they clip everytime i need them too... really dont worry to bad... i mean if u pressured hard enough, eventually it would just break... its really extremely rare taht you'll find someone who's knee popped out before the binding...if ever

how can you accually ski on a din of 4 or 5. with bindings like that, you can shake your leg on the chiar and your ski will fall off. i have my scratch 140s set on 12 right now with no problems - ive only come out once on a twisting fall from about 5 feet out of the pipe, where they came off perfect for the situation. hell - plake skis on a din of 22

it is possible to ski on a din of 4 or 5 if you weigh more, you just need to get your technique extremely dialed- thtas all there is to it. i know a guy who skis on din 3 becuase he doesnt want to fuck up his knees (hes older), so he's really light on his feet and keeps his turns really loose, letting the edge take over when he starts his turn. and for the person that said they want bindings to stay on for sideways landings and such, then check out salomon bindings, they stay on great.

i dont understand why your afraid to fall. i work at a ski shop so i know how to calibrate bindings and stuff. but i havent memorized the Look calibration chart, but ill check it out next time i go to work and see if your set right

ure a lightweight, and those 'hard falls', that u had, they obviously weren't hard enough to set the binding loose. Come on, ure like 125 pounds, try fallin when u got 70 more pounds. Uf you can get ure foot out by conventional use, then that means the bidning cant release.

I was always under the impression that you bought look pivots or rossignol axials so your skis would never pop off... thats why I got my axials.

even if you have it set to the lowest din, that doesnt mean ure gonna avoid knee injuries, catchn the drift. They arent super bindings
