So, what do you guys think of tele jibbing. is it going to take off, or die? i personally think its pretty sweet, and tele gear gives you such good access to the backcountry, plus you dont get shin bang, if you land in the back seat.
no you just gotta land really centered, but the fact that your heel could come loose, would make it a challenge, because theres so much more that could go wrong.
tele is super fun. Anyone thats even thinking about switching should do it. It's also really sick how small and tightknit the community is. Check out www.freeheellife.com for some sick media and coverage of alot of the tele events.
The new generation of boots and bindings give you nearly as much control as an alpine set up....park skiing/switch free-heeling is not that much harder than on regualr skis....and when it is done right, man it looks smooth.
I won't ever tele, my knees are already too screwed up for that...I'm just saying I have mad respect for those guys. It's just another cool way to slide down the mtn.
I started out with tele this season and its so much fun...never regretted that i switched, to second what Simon said, if you are thinkin about switchin just do it
k the guys who rip teles are pretty dam sweet as it is but the guy who hit the park too are crazy, theres this one guy at my hill, he can throw 7's with his tele's flawless
I took up tele this winter, and on my second day out i got adventrous and attempeted the halfpipe at a local hill, all i gota say is that pipe is crazy hard on tele skis, when your comin back in, sometimes your tips or tails arnt were you think they are, and they tend to catch on the lip. but if you stick it, it looks uber cool.
There's this sick tele kid at Sugarbush every once and a while. He throws 9s and whatnot, rails...I have see teleskiers land switch and fall on their face. But I respect them.
dosnt matter if not to many people switch. i mean i like how its getting popular, but its definitly not for everyone. tele skiers usually are core and commited to the sport. theres no poser tele skiers. and thats what i like, you see a tele skier with twins, you know that guy rips. its nice. i know alot of the telers at my resort, although theres few freestyle.
as far as park skiers go, i dunno. i wouldnt do it. i take a run or two by
i take a run or two by in the park when im bored, and its fun usually, but i have a pair of alpine mounted skogans just to mess around on and jib. but tele skiing the moutain and pow is just so orgasmic. just ripping turns is awsome, and everyone respects you. not to many people want another challenge. i dunno, im just goin off on it, i switched and now i see no other way. the turn is soo smooth, its just style. makes skiing so much more fun for me. i hope everyone tries it out sometime. you dont have to ski park.
and for all your retards out there who think were all pot smoking 45 year old hippies, theres a chick at my resort whos about 20, she teles chronics, a teenager who teles madens, i tele pistols. were becoming new age. not old straight skinny skis and hippies. plus, i just read in a magazine about some swedish tele prodegy, he was rollin at chads when tanner crashed. he was plannin on hitting it too. he regularly does 1's off huge jumps and 9's and all.
Thats the total alure for me, its another challenge. the way i see it, is if you can rip equally well on tele and alpine equipment. all must bow down to you. cause tele is definatly the shit.
that's funny, I think that most tele skiers are the kind of people who only have the "right" or "best" gear, and they are all about the fashion show. My favortie tele skiers are the ones who make alpine turns. There are a few cool tele skiers who actually go out and tour and tele ski for what it's meant for, but a lot of them just do it to look good. I'm not ripping on the few skiers who are actually commitied, but it's really a part of the fucking fashion show skiing has become.
So tele skiers who are only making alpine turns are using the gear for what its meant for? What are you trying to say.
and to anyone who says that tele is meant for backcountry and shouldn't be in the park, thats exactly what alot of older skiers say about newschool in general. If you want to get right down to it, skiing was originally just a form of transportation, so using it as anything but such isn't what it's meant for.
Yeah its cool that they can do it on tele skis, but theres no way that it ever takes off. Its not any cooler than regular, and only a handful of people can tele
