As of last night at Boreal, I have been lowered off of a broken, non-moving chairlift twice. We were stuck on the Accelerator lift at Boreal from about 8:30pm to 10:10. This has happened to me twice now and I am only 22. Is this more common than I think?
woah...its happened to me once at my mtn and I've been skiing there for 12 yrs, but if its a bum lift i can understand having to be unloaded more than once
were you stuck overnight? or just for a few hours?
lift operators are supposed to call up the chair number the last person riding is on when it's closing time. THEN they let the chairs go all the way around one more time just to be safe so nobody is left on the lift.
a couple chicks were left on a lift in montana like ten years ago and almost died overnight. it was too high to jump and the temps were below zero. they sued and won a million dollars each or something along those lines.
dont worry...its happened to me...i was riding with my friend at our local mt when they shut the lift off on us...luckily, the ski patrol came by and told them to turn the lift back on, so yes, it happens to others
no, they did not forget about us, it was for like 2 hrs. a chair got jammed and the lift quit working and they had to unload like 15 or so people by pulley system. i can't image being "forgotten" about. shitty.
at my mtn they have those lifts the seats come off the cable allowing them to be kept inside overnight, so there ain't no chance of spending the night on the lifts
my resort is gay and we have a detachable quad as the main lift. One time we stopped the chair we were on from advancing. It took them 1 hr. to figure out how to work it....
we were hiding in the woods so we didnt get in trouble
We just have ski patrol ride up the last chair, close it off and when we call up to the top letting them know what number chair the ski patrol is on we just wait until we get a call back down that they reached the top.
i would have jumped, but we were like 60ft in the air with a flat landing. it was right before the bottom of the half pipe. i've hucked 30ft cliffs, and i still wasn't about to jump. trust me, i thought about it... alot. i had 2 hrs to think of shit to do.
