You're right guys, this is a decent town. However oppotunities for me are nil, so you may see why I hold a biased opinion. There is no industry here so there are no options for me to work during the school year within my discipline, just crappy part-time service industry stuff. Unless you get lucky and score a research job on campus. Plus the cost isn't that bad here (one of my friends pays 700 a month with two roomates for a 2-bedroom+kitchenette/living room in Dinkytown the college part of town in Minneapolis), although salaries are horrendous here, it does tend to even out. I've lived off and on in Minneapolis, which has an absolutely amazing night-life during the summer. During the winter, you can't do anything. If you like clubbing/dancing there is nothing for after hours here. However the bar scene is pretty decent. Once I started to venture out away from the Engineering department more, I have found the female population isn't that bad, if you like cookie-cutter blonde girls that are stuck up ... unless you are on the football or basketball team. Again, me being negative, but also a bit serious about it. (Side note: seriously ... Montana state athletes? whoopidi doo, most of those assholes are so egotisitcal they blind themselves from the fact that they play for a small college in Montana. I worked with a kid who was the starting point guard for the U of Minnesota, a nationally recognized athlete, no ego. In fact I didn't know he was an athlete until he told me. But I must digress and get on with the point). Basically, I've lived in the valley for appoximately 18-19 of my 21 years, it has it benefits, but some people (me) can grow tired of the town. I will miss the skiing, I might miss some of the little parts of the town, (traffic is definitely not one of those things. I swear to god it is the most poorly designed street layout in the history of man.) but you must understand that I only get frustrated and "hate on bozeman" because it doesn't suit my fancy. I need to be somewhere where I can be applying my knowledge and skill and experiencing innovations of the engineering world first, be it in industry or at NASA. Those are my passions. Once I graduate, I will move away, chances are I may never see bozeman again. But the town has provided many happy memories. For 4 years, I say yes, you will love it here. Maybe you'll love it so much you haven't had enough and continue school here the other 2 or 4. I'm getting yet another pass at the Bowl, so hopefully, if I have time, I will see some of you on the mountain, that I have spent most of the last 10 winters on.
