and i'm having trouble with getting down them with ease. Usually, what happens is that i go down too slow and rotate about 75-80 degrees to my right. My feet are about shoulders width apart and then i go down and land normally. it is very ugly. when i go faster and with more confidence, i get the full rotation, and then i always fall foward 3/4 of the way down the box. its like my skis abrubtly stop or something. can someone tell me what im doing wrong when im catching an edge.

if the box is flat center your weight and check the box for sticky spots cause those suck but just practice

well, could alot of use on a box be the reason why it is "sticky"? usually i like to go to the park later in the day after everyone has already used it and left.

im no better of a skier than you my friend but just from being on this message board, leaning forward is key. you're not going to catch an edge leaning forward just being confident will keep you from falling backward.

Keep your legs wide
Speed
Lean forward
Look at the end of the box
Don't flail your arms everywhere
Confidence.
If you have not done many boxes or rails, you may just need to wait for your edges to detune. It helps if you keep the same skis for your left and right skis.

just go faster or try another box.
your front ski should be a little bit on it's side (not flat) but this is automatic.. don't think it's anatomically possible to have it flat.

how much harder is a rail from a box. is it just an extra balancing factor?

rails can be more intimidating, and sometimes harder, it depends on what type
If your doing a slightly wide, flat rail, its just liek a box, only you have to make sure your lined up better. As long as you keep the rail between your leggs on the approach, and turn onto it like any box, you will be fine. Just gotta get confidence.
A thin or rounded rail is trickier, since its easier to slip off. Just make sure to find a nice low flat rail, and as long as you;ve become comfortable with boxes, you should be able to get it

you can do anything you set your mind to man. if you can ride down a hill with ease than you can slide arail with ease go into it with the rite frame of mind and you will eventually get their.
