What would you say would score better in a comp? A switch unatural 540 safety, or a zero spin safety. If they both were the same amplitude and bot had good style and grabs.

Well for the sake of progression, I'd hope it would be the switch unnatural 5 w/safety...zero spins get you second place though, ask Mike Nick

Unnatural and Switch tricks are the big thing right now.
If you could throw a switch unnatural 5 with good amplitude and a grab I think it would beat out the others. But problem is it would take descent judges to respect the trick for what it is.
It's a progressive trick that is sure to place well.
But Pollard qualified for the x-games last year by throwing a steezy zero spin. So thats something to think about.
And the mute 900 - if the judges are really looking for big spins then go with it.
The best way to decide alot of this stuff is by what trick you feel you own the most and be flexible to be able to change your trick during the competition.
Get a feel for what the judges are looking for.

naw I threw a switch 5 in a comp and lost to a zero spin, but that's cause the judges didn't know what they were talking about. So if you know that the judges know their shit, go for the switch 5. If not throw a sweet zero spin

I think the unnatural 5 should win for sure but if the judges don't know anything they'll probably be more impressed by the mute 9 (don't get me wrong that's a sick trick too). On the topic of judges not knowing shit, a few years ago I read in the tricks section of the line website that when riders are going to do unnatural tricks in a comp they raise they're hand briefly before the hit or rail to signal the judges. I've never seen it put into practice but it seems to me like it would pretty much solve the problem for smaller competitions where the judges are unlikely to know enough about the riders to know if they are spinning unnatural or not.
