I'm sorry, where do you live? And please expand on what better colleges there are with better skiing? Sure Dartmouth is a better school, but the skiing isn't better. CU is a better school than UVM (by average SAT score and the fact that we have won 3 nobel prizes in the past 5 years) and we have better skiing than UVM. U of U and MSU may have better skiing, but CU is a much better school. DU is comparable to CU (you can argue either one as the better school), but Boulder is a better college town. The only schools that can legitimately claim to be better ski schools are in Washington.
yea, i'm not a big fan of cu either, alot of the proffesors i met at that school were complete ass holes, and the adiminstrators, and people in charge of admissions make you feel like a dumbass, unless you have a 4.0...just another college that wants your money, i'd rather go somewhere where i exist, not where i'm just another sunken hippy
everyone who hates on cu obviously doesn't go there and probably hasn't ever even been there. cu is the shit, the hour and half drive on i70 is the only bad part.
I've gone to both schools. Montana State has much better big mountain skiing. Colorado has better park. Boulder is a cool town but a lot of people are jerks compaired to the laid back mountain town of bozeman. Everyone in Montana skis and is way chill (really hard to get a drinking ticket). Boulder Police have been dicks lately about parties. Bozeman has crazier parties by far, but Boulder definately has better women. It comes down to would you rather have a small town feel or a bigger town feel. Visit both because i know lots of people who left Boulder for Bozeman and Vise Versa, it just depends on the person. Hope that helps. Peace.
I applied to both, and ended up going to CU cause of their business program, but both schools seem to be pretty good for skiing. Hey Bschaffer did you wrestle for Creek?
are you or are you of any relation to Bucky Schafer? I graduated from Creek in '99 and kinda knew him from my group of friends (wrestlers...Marc Wennogle, James Kyle) and from track and what not...
if any of you were considering msu when you decided to go to cu, how did you choose? i've been offered merit scholarships from both and i'm going as undeclared for my major.....so i dont have much to decide on...
They're trying to make CU the "Harvard of the West" and jacking up tuition. I wonder how long its gonna take them to realize that people go to CU to ski and party....
i guess it depends what you're looking for. i transfered to cu from a better school b/c i just wanted to ski. the school is so big that it's almost like a factory that turns out degrees. this isn't to say i am upset that i go to CU.
its chill, lots of cool kids there that i know, not much of a party school at all, most kids are just down to earth kids, and alot are involved in the community, and churches and what not
yikes cu has the apperence of a party school but it still has good academics personally i couldn't live in c sprins ever but it all depends onur personality u really need to visit the campuses to get a fell for where u wanna go
yea deffinately, if your moderately more conservative, have a religious background, and dont like to party a whole bunch check it out the springs is an awesome town if you know it, tons of mtn biking, and every mornging you wake up the first thing you see is a 14,500 foot monster named Pikes Peak, which is an awesome thing to wake up to even though most people take it for granted, if your huge on outdoors its a killer place to, tons of mtn biking, and tons of rock climbing right in your back yard, check it
exactly, CU spings is kinda for people who dont like to Party. Go to boulder if you drink all the time. Go to boulder if you ski. Go to boulder if you want a legit degree. But if you live on the hill it is hard to escape the alcohol, which it was sweet for me. Boulder has ton of outdoor shit too. Pearl St Rocks, good bars. Boulder issuper liberal, pretty hippy. C-Springs is essentailly a conservative military town with lots of old people and vets and people who work for the AF. Its up to you, but remeber you only are in college once, so dont fuck it up. haha!
I'm from Bozeman and live in Boulder now. I'd break it down like this.
Better in Boulder:
Academics (assuming your not majoring in Agriculture...)
Park Skiing
Women
Weather
Better in Bozeman:
Backcountry / Big Mountain Skiing
Less driving
Cheaper (all things considered, assuming your not getting in-state tuition at either.)
