yea me and my friend ducked a rope at gunstock last sunday into 2 feet of fresh. we followed a group of about 6 kids down the trail, but we kept out distance. when we got close to the bottom, i came to the top of a small ridge and hucked myself to the ground. no more than 200 feet further down the trail were the 6 kids in front of us and 2 ski patrollers clipping their tickets. i sat down on the ground for about 10-15 minutes, then i got up, and everyone was gone. me and my friend came out completely unscathed. do it up for sure.
yeah, today we got 10" in vermont and i "just did it" at my college mountain - it was a closed run that was usually open, and we got bitched at and our passes taken. i dont see why lifties freak out so much, the guy wouldnt even let us take the lift back to get to our car (we had to hitchhike)
plus the ski partollers that reported us are our classmates - lame
I did it last weekend at bromley multiple times on different trails when there was 8-10" of fresh powder. It was soooo worth it. I only got caught once, and the ski patroller simply asked me what I was doing on closed trails (pretty obvious answer), why I shouldn't be there, and then let me go. He didn't clip my ticket or anything, even though it was only a single day ticket anyways. Out of the 4 closed trails I went down, 3 opened the next day anywyas.
Well, ugualy the trail is closed for a reason. Its dangerous to go in a closed trail.. may be because the snow is unstable, or theres a groomer down the trail or something...
i just have a hard time taking ski patrollers (that are students) and lifties seriously when the stuff we're "poaching" is like green runs, just with a shitload of snow of them - it doesnt get steep at this mountain at all
GO for it and ski partol never clips if u have a stupidly good excuse like i couldnt tell if it was closed or something
i do it all the time
never got clipped
(kock on wood)
