I will start this short story by saying that my parents have recently purchased a brand new 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse. For anyone who is not familar with this car, you can check this link for a picture of the car:

But anyway, on with the story. So I just get my G2 drivers liscense 9 days ago, (meaning I can drive by myself). Although I am only 16, my parents are nice enough to let me take this car out for the night with a bunch of my good friends.
After watching a movie at the local theature, the 3 drivers arrange to meet at one location in the parking lot to drive home together. Me and my next door neighbour pull out at the same time and head down the parking lot with me leading the way. I have 2 people in my car, and he has none in his 96' lumina. As a stop sign approaches, a small group of kids run in front of my car. As I am not travelling too fast, I slowly brake allowing the teens to cross the road. As I come to a complete stop, I am rear ended very hard from the back. WHAT A TOOL!
At this point I am in total shock. I hear screams from the girl in my back seat, and I myself am panicing. As I exit my car to take a look at the damage, I am horrified by the result. By back bumper is hanging off the back of my car by one screw. My very large back bumper piece is basically detatched and on the ground. (As you may have seen from the pictures, the back bumper on this car is gigantic) At this pointim thinking; I AM FUCKED, My insurance will KILL me and its not even my fault. Unfortuantely a police cruiser was near by to view the accident and notify the insurance company on the damage. perfect! After exiting my vehicle, I went to a near by curb, put my head down, and immediately start to cry.
This crying proceeded until a tow truck came and said that since there is over $1,000 damage to my car, he must tow it away. In a fit of rage of the tow truckers nonsense, I tell him where to go and what to do when he gets there, and make it clear he will not touch my car until I say so. The police crusier pulls up and asks for my lisence and insurance Heres the kicker. I dont even have a lisence with a picture on it yet! All I have is a tempoary which is a full piece of paper saying I can drive a car. That sure impressed the cop. But I get some news which is both good and bad. I find out I am "not at fault" for the accident. But my buddy might get charged for the incident. I eneded up driving the car home with the bumper hanging out the hatch and dealing with my parents when I got home. Luckily my mom was loaded at the time, which lets things cool down for a bit until this morning. Police said on a car this new, and rare, replacing the back bumper may cost up to $4,000 ! Surprisingly my bumper was not in bad condition but will still need to be replaced. Because of this I figured my friends car shouldn't be badly damaged at all. Turns out I was way off. Both headlights broke, The grill is dented in, Hood is crumpled, his front bumper got wrenched, and there is mino engine damage. Wow, he hit me hard, and Wow this bumper just exorbed everything.
His parents are pyscos, so there will be some interesting conversations in the next few days about this incident. I can only hope that the back bumper is the only thing damaged, and my insurance will go easy on me. We will have to see.
This is the worst night that does not involve a death in the fmaily I have ever experianced. And I didn't do anything wrong. This sucks, and its 4 am so I'm going to bed. But this was a real eye opener. So now you can sleep easy knowing that your life is good compared to mine. Enjoy.
