Skateboarding legend passes away
2/24/06
On February 17th, 2006, NYC and the entire skateboarding community lost a good skateboarder, a great friend, and most of all an amazing person. Harold Hunter, a New York legend, passed away from an apparent cocaine overdose. Known as "The King of New York" he was one of the most influential skateboarders to come from the East Coast and one of the most charismatic people in the world. Harold was most known for his parts in Zoo York's videos Peep This and Mixtape. He also acted in the movie Kids and had several other small roles on TV and in music videos. Harold loved life, and if you ask anyone about him they would probably say that their stomachs hurt from laughing so much when they talked to him. I was lucky enough to spend time with him this past summer, and I can truly say that it was one of the best experiences I've ever had. It felt like I have known him forever, he was just so nice and genuine. Harold will be sorely missed by his friends, his family, and the entire skateboarding community.
