Sikhs allowed to wear ceremonial dagger in canadian schools

Wow, that is so wrong I find. Allowing a kid to bring a weapon to school whether he is going to use it or not is so wrong. Anything that has the potential to kill like that should be out of the question, religion or not. School and religions should not be mixed anyways, one thing I liked about french schools that is very controversial there too. This means no kippas, muslim hats, turbans, etc...

i almost ALWAYS carry either an opinel or a swiss army on me. You NEVER know when you might need a tool, and whats more versatile than a knife?

common misconception. Muslim is an islamic person. I could be muslim and white as fuck. that guy is an arab. and his religion is sikhism. completely different.

Sikhs are not muslims. The daggers are not sharp. I think that they can even bring them on planes although that may have changed. letting kids bring them to school is a bit sketchy. it is a heavy blunt object...I guess you could choke the shit out of somone with rosery beads too...

Not having his dagger is the single most humiliating thing that can happen to a Sikh man. It is part of their culture. Besides the fact that Sikhs are not "terrorists", the daggers arent even sharp, and they never use them.


Fun fact...most muslims don't wear turbans, but all Sikhs do. After 9/11, most of the people beaten and killed by angry Americans were Sikh, and had absolutely no affiliation with the attacks. They got killed just for wearing a turban.

i dont think its a big deal, i dont see this resulting in any violence. the whole thing about ceremonial weaponry is that you dont tend to ever use it. but who knows maybe some kid will get stabbed and ill eat my words.
