I have a question that is bugging me.. i bought a pair of big troubles and i heard that in untracked snow they tendded to dive a bit, so i mounted them 1.5cms back from recomended becuase i will be skiing mostly untracked.. is this to far back and i should have them remounted to recomended or did i do the right thing.. thanx
well im not really sure how close there mounting point is to core center and id assume its realitivly close considering it s twin tip. you probly did the right thing considering u want to be able to sink your tails in the pow and i bet where you mounted them is kinda like an average non twin maybe still a bit forward the that.
my roommate has the big troubles in a 176, mounted at suggested mounting point, and he's beein ripping up lines in the italian alps the past few weeks, and he said they are the sickest ski he's ever been on, so i would say regular mounting point is fine. if you're not really into dropping cliffs to switch or skiing switch that much, you'll be fine where you're at though.
I mounted mine on recommended and I have no problems with the tips diving in deep powder - the tip height is a lot higher than most skis. They're the 186's and I'm 185lbs.
thanx guys, i bought the 176s becuase il be doin a lot of bumps as well, i figure its only a centimerter.. ill try it out and if i dont like it i can always remount it
yea, the big's tail is higher than the tip, so even if you are a little farther back, you can still ski switch fine, go into shit switch fine, and land switch anywhere but BC or in pow fine
