Is windows movie maker good for anything?

i dont have any movie editing software other than windows movie maker and i was wondering 1) how the fuck do you shorten clips in time, lets say take off parts of the small clip i dont want
and 2)should i invest or download a better software or would it be a waste knowing i really dont use it that much (any suggestions on what program i should get would be appreciated)

the only thing it can be good for is making really short simple trailers or edits...if you want to make a good movie, definitely invest in a better program like adobe premier

for PC get Avid, Adobe Premiere 6.5, or Vegas.

the best is Final Cut Pro mixed with Shake 4, which apparantly run on hollywood linux systems as well.
