So I`m going crazy

Well, last week I bought my new park ski (4frnt STL) and today was the first day I could ride it. I was stoked. The ski is (was) amazing. One of the best skis I´ve ever skied. So I`was pretty happy since I knew that I bought the perfect ski for me and had a nice day. I went home and as I always do I waxed my ski. I hadn´t even started I noticed something strange. I took the left ski, looked at it exactly and OMG, you wouldn´t believe what I saw (didn´t believe it myself): the tension of the ski was gone. It is broken. right in front of the binding (in the fornt third of the ski). So I´m still shocked, but I don´t have a clue what to do.
If you look at the ski you don´t notice something strange (you can´t see any damages), and I didn´t notice anything while skiing. Even when I bent the ski I didn´t realize any difference between the broken and the unbroke one.
So, i have a ski insurance (hope thats the right word) that will pay a new ski, but that would take som time.
What would you do?
1. Ski the broken ski and demand a new one at the end of the season (which will hopefully never come ;) )
2. Demand a new one now (will I get a new STL 05/06?) and risk not having a ski for the rest of the season

so the ski is broken? I personally don't feel sorry for you at all if you are trying to be dishonest, which is appears in your little 1. at the bottom

I´m certainly not trying to be dishonest.
My ski is broken, thts what I´m going to tell my insurance, and they will pay a new one. That´s why I insuranced the ski...

Again: my ski is broken, ca 10cm in front of the binding. On the outside I can´t see any damages (I cant see any cracks or something like that). If I bend the ski i can´t feel any difference between the broken one and the other one. I didn´t notice it while skiing, the only things that are different are: If I look at the ski from the tip to the tail the ski has a break in front of the binding, and if I put both skis on the ground the middle of the broken ski touches the ground and the other one does not.

here s my question:

does that affect the performance of the ski very much so that I have to get a new one or can I use the ski for the rest of the season

well it sounds like the core may be broken if you are describing what it seems... and you would be dishonest/putting yourself at risk if you rode it for the rest of the season and didnt contact your shop/4frnt about a warantee issue NOW
I have no fucken clue what your talken about ski insurance

ski-insurance (certainly the wrong word) is, when I buy a new ski I give the shop some extra money so that I´ll get a new one if the other one is stolen or breakes

^ sounds like you are getting ripped off because if a ski breaks then it gets waranteed... and if your stuff is stolen it has nothing to do with the shop but if they do replace no questions asked I guess its ok...
oh yea maybe a closeup would show what you are trying to show better because I dont see any breaks in that left ski

The tension part confused me, but if you ignore all of that, it sounds like a stress fracture in the topsheet. Nothing to worry about.

dude, pic doesnt even show the toepiece. and its dark. but my stls delaminated for like 8 inches by the toepiece, and 4frnt has YET to get back to me. + my local shop doesnt carry 4frnt, so id have to ship it myself/ journey to a qualified shop.

ha i have 4frnt stl... mine are so beat up from only a half year... not sure what u mean by a tension, but id ski it,, mine are probably in much worse shape anyways

Doesn´t matter how many pics I shoot, there s no one where you can see more. Generally there s not much to see. the left ski is broken right in front of the binding. You wouldn´t notice until you have the ski in your own hand.

What do you think? Does the shop have to warranty the ski? do I get a new one emedientially or do they have to send the ski to the 4frnt factory (that might take some time)

Thats what I´m trying to say. When I put both skis on the ground, the broken one touches the ground over the whole lenght. That one which is not broken touches the ground only at the tip and at the tail.
When you look at the ski the ski hasn´t lost the whole camber, but if you put it on the ground the whole camber is gone...

that's what happens to super noodly soft park skis. they lose there camber. And, judging by the picture, they're still fine. My Stls had reverse camber, and i still skied on them. so did my two friends.

The warranty of the ski is 1 year, I bought it last friday.

It´s kind of weird, I can´t feel a difference flexion between the broken one and the non-broken ski, but I can definetely say that the ski is broken

I just read at 4frnt.com that if I take the ski to the dealer and demand a new ski in case of warranty the dealer must send the ski to the 4frnt factory where the ski will be checked. Cause I live in Austria and the 4frnt factory is in Canada that means: Goodby for this season

if you can't even noticed a different, then why not just ski them for the rest of the season... this is a really silly question. SKI THEM, then at the end of the season, send them in.

they probably will continue to snap if its already broken so if you keep riding/abusing them they will completely seperate MOST LIKELY. the pic didnt load, but if its like a crack in the core/topsheet of the ski it will grow. like buttering wont be a possibility. TAKE THEM BACK. get MSPs. they are structurally sounder.

you said you have ski insurance... why did you pay your shop extra if they wont give you a new ski on the spot?
maybe they have lost their camber but if you cant tell by flexing it by hand... either you aren't strong or something... then maybe it isnt as bad as you say, just ride em till they break
