I'm trying to make a decision on where to go to college next year. If there are any people going to Dartmouth right now I'd love to hear what you think of it.
I'm currently a sophomore up here at Dartmouth. Its a great school, it was my first choice when i applied to colleges. yeah, its cold, and kinda in the middle of nowhere, but its appropriately the "party school" of the Ivy League and a lot of fun (lots of frats, which are great). If you like to ski, you're in luck. Granted its east coast, but you still have a lot of options, and everybody else in your class skis too. The academics are great, everybodys pretty damn smart, cool and interesting classes/professors, and not as hard as you'd think. I love it up here, and would recommend it to anybody other than a self-professed "city person". Boston isn't even that far away anyway, and montreal and burlington are pretty close too.
the school philosophy is "work hard, play hard" (i know it sounds kinda lame if you don't go here) but its true, and its great. tons of drinking. oh and learning too.
ive been considering dartmouth for awhile now (prob my 1st choice as of now) and even more now that ive heard about it from someone thats goin there. im gonna be goin up to visit soon. thanks for the review
well I see you live in Jackson Hole. From a skiing prespective it will be quite different here on the east coast. However like someone said above, you do have many options mountainwise. My belief is if you have the opprotunity to go to Darmouth you should take it, there aren't any other ivy league schools that will offer the skiing that Darmouth does.
my ex girlfriend goes there and we dotn talk anymore so i dont really know what she thinks of it but its a good school so if you got in i would go there
Whats the deal on their Physics Major Program, I know they like combine a Physics major around a liberal arts course selection. Do many people use that program?
Ill be joining you at dartmouth next year! I'm behing recruited for track there, so there is like a 95% chance I will be accepted. I have a really good GPA and SATs, and the coach has my back, so it is looking good. Maybe I'll see you around
definitely go to dartmouth, good skiing and a really good college, i plan on going to dartmouth in about 5 or 6 years, mike wilson is gonna go to dartmouth after his ski career ends
i want to go really bad...but i just didn't work hard enough in highschool and im a junior now, so its kind of late. I think my xc skiing may be good enough to get an "in" with the coach, but i would have to knife the SATs next fall
i have a bunch of friends who go there and the hockey coach there is interested in me, so i might be going there, which i hope is tight, which is what i hear
I know a few people that go there and they love it. It's only 45 minutes from killington. It's Ivy League tho so you have to be really smart or really rich
I heard from the Dartmouth ski coach. It's not a scholarship or anything. The coach has like 2 or 3 spots and he can recruit anyone he wants for the ski team.
I dont know if i can go either right now. Dartmouth doesnt pair ed kids up with a host student. They wont actually "invite" me, but I am free to come and partake in the festivities if I have someone to stay with.
That is def not true. There are 4,000 undergrads and about 1500 grad students. Although it has a really good medicine progrom with tuck hospital and whatnot, its mostly undergrads. Other ivies, on the other hand, like yale and harvard are mostly grad students
well skiing wies if ur looking for some good park its about 10 min from whaleback. they are open at night and have a decent rail set up and im sure next season the will continue to improve. I recomend a pass there if you go to dartmouth considering its close proximity and good skiing.
