In the begining I thought this system would be the shit, SHITTY is more like it.
I have had this binding for a week now, mounted on the Mike Nicks(dope ski) and I allready have broke both break systems permanently. There has been big chips comming off, and worst of all the bood size adjustments dont seem to stay in place once moove 'unintentionally'.(all this hapend in two days that were cut short du to equipment failyer)
Great idea, needs some work lots of it,
Reactor 12 fucking suck.

Yep, and have them (well, the Rossis anyway) fall out of non-Rossi skis. Yeehaw.
Sux0r. Go Salomon or Marker until Line figures their shit out. It'll be just like the skis I'm sure, it'll take a year or two, their ideas are sweet but it takes a while for 'em to get the engineering part of it down.

did u just honestly say go with markers or salomons?? u stupid fuck, salomons will pop out every 2 seconds and break a week later and markers are just gay. maybe the rossis fell out because the moron who mounted them didnt do it right?

they all have the same type of screws, looks are the best though, so stable. i feel more secure in them and never pre release

Or maybe not... have a look at a Rossi screw and then a Salomon screw. The Rossi screw is shorter because it's designed to work with their race plates. Why you would design a binding to work with (4?) skis in one company's line is beyond me, but they do. The biggest reason is not the screws, but the design. The screws in a Rossi/Look toepiece are mounted about an inch and a half apart. The torque on that small of an area is enormous. A Salomon/Marker toepiece has a mounting area about 4 inches wide. This distributes the pressure much more evenly across the ski instead of all being in one place. I'm not saying EVERY Rossi/Look falls out, but I have seen several, and I've never seen a Salomon OR Marker fall out.
Re: prerelease on Salomons, I haven't seen this problem on anything except the 810 Ti. I think it's shoddily engineered because they wanted a pricepoint Ti Spheric binding and just stripped down a 912 Ti instead of re-engineering it, and the pair that I have will soon be replaced. And I haven't heard of a pair of Salomon bindings not on a Pocket Rocket (wide brake creates too much torque and tends to rip the heelpiece off) breaking yet. I dare you to link me to a single post saying 'my Salomon binding broke' that doesn't involve a Pocket Rocket.
Re: Marker 'just being gay', do you have any rationale for that? I used to hate them because they were heavy, but now their top-end binding is lighter than any Rossi or Salomon on the market by a wide margin. They are by far the most reliable binding on the market and have slmost zero pre-release.
Look at that, an entire post without a personal attack. Wow, that was hard. Wait, no it wasn't...

ok looks and rossis are suposed to be mounted with those steal things inserted into the ski i dont know what they are called. the point of having the holes close together is so the ski flexes naturally.
i had a pair of 912 tis for a week last year, they were the shittiest bindings ever, they always pre released. my frind had the same bindings and we were in a race and we had the dins cranked to 12 our skis released on the same part of the same course with out falling. needles to say i tore the heelpiece off the plate on a jump which didnt feel too good. then later last year i traded skis with another friend with the 810s and i hit a jump wrapped for a 7 and my skis popped off sending me 30 feet off axis landing on my side. i had another friend who double released wrapping for a 7 and he dislocated his shoulder and couldnt ski for 3 weeks.
and markers are heavy and useless. looks and rossis are byfar the best bindings out there. line team is on look, k2 is on look, and of course rossi and dynastar are on them. there might be a reason for that bnecause they arent even sponsored by them its called performance.
ya get?! or do you need something else to prove tou you?

'Markers are heavy and useless.'
If you would have actually read my post, you would have realized that this was my opinion too, up until this year. The Ti1200 PC is MUCH lighter than a 912Ti, which is MUCH MUCH lighter than anything either Look or Rossi offer.
Whether a close mounting point provides 'freer flex' or not is debateable, but doubtful. You don't want a free-flexing ski torsionally (side-to-side), and that's the only kind of 'freer flex' that having the screws closer to the center of the ski would allow. Whether there is a deliberate point to it or not, it causes a severe amount of stress on skis that don't have a Rossi binding plate. If you didn't notice, the Dynastar Autodrive system (designed with Look bindings in mind) uses a METAL plate (Rossi totally ripped Autodrive off, but that's another post...) which probably provides a little better binding retention than a WOOD or especially FOAM core ski.
The reason your skis prolly popped off is because you were mad in the back seat around that turn. The binding IS designed to release more easily in a backwards twisting fall (saving your ACL in the process), so if you have poor skiing form, they might just release.
I have no argument about the 810Ti. They didn't re-engineer it, and they needed to, rather than just putting a softer spring in it.
And if you think performance is the reason why a professional skier signs with a company, you are just wrong... When you first get sponsored, you'd ride Elan AirTwists if they'd give you a sponsorship. After that, it's about who will give you money and promote you and your image so you can get other sponsorships (clothing, goggles, etc).
Again, I'm not saying that they're a bad binding and that no one should get them. I'm saying that people just making up stuff about Salomon and completely dismissing Marker without any good reason is really lame. Every company has their problems (although I haven't found one with Marker yet), and no one is THAT much better no matter what.
I'm not interested in continuing a discussion with someone who's more interested in making sweeping generalizations and personal attacks.

Completely unrelated, but still kinda interesting: How Rossi could rip off Dynastar's autodrive when it's all the same company?
And I ride piece of shit Tyrolia TD8 bindings, and I've never had a problem with them, except that they're kinda heavy. I don't usually notice the weight.

Rossi bindings are manufactured by Look. i.e. they pay Look for the patent and buy bindings from them, stick Rossi labels on them instead of Look, and go.
As far as I know (I've never looked into it at all, though) the companies are separate entities.

Dynastar is owned by Rossi, with (some)independence when it comes to product development. And the only bindings that I've found to suck are Atomics. Too much of a bitch to install(at least I thought so when I was a tech) super heavy, and half the time Atomic makes you a hostage by forcing you to buy their bindings for their skis(a situation becoming MUCH too common.)

eeemachameman the point of saying that all of those peopl are on look or rossi bindings proves that it is their choice, its companies that dont have bindings and they all go to looks or rossis. if the markers were good then do you think these people on k2 and line would ride markers?? THEY ARENT SPONSORED BY LOOK OR ROSSIGNOL, THEY CHOOSE THAT BINDING!!

about marker bindings, ive heard a lot of bad reactions. i dont know about the higher level ones, but the ones that i had released way to easily. also i've heard more stories about people complaining about marker bindings than look bindings.

what about tyrolia bindings, people never seem to talk about them, i heard the tyrolia mad flex 9 are nice and supposed to be safe like lines only work, some sites even said its light diagonal release thing releases in backwards twisting falls, i even heard from some people their sl 100's are okay for lighter weight riders, maybe looks just are 2 popular. im thinking about not getting them now, cause tyrolia's are safer

I've said it once, and I'll say it again...I ride Tyrolia TD8s, and I think they're fantastic, as long as you can handle a little bit of extra weight. Sure, the DIN only goes to twelve, but since I ride them at 9(higher than my DIN should be anyways...), what the hell do I care? They work, even after 3 seasons of hucking myself to ice in Ontario. The heelpiece can be a bitch sometimes, as it rotates when your boot isn't in it, but overall, it gets a 9/10.

I ripped the toe piece of my marker world cup 8-18din out of ski's 3 times last season. I can be standing on the snow and with those bindings at 14, my salomon 11-17 din bindings at 14, or my look bindings at 14 can just turn my foot out of them. I have always had my markers pre release. i have tweaked my ski's off my feet in the air during tricks(salomons). So far my looks have ony came off my feet once, and they should have. my 2 cents. Look/Rossi bindings are my choice, followed by salomon

smuggs...everyone gave you shit about the line bindings because there was no way you could have possibly known they were going to be shitty, you were talking out of your ass.
I had 912ti's last season and they were god awful. I ripped out of those bindings at least 5 times a day, and every fall was a yard sale. I had those bindings cranked to the red line.
Now i have looks and i ride them on 8.5 with no problems what-so-ever.

smuggs you're an idiot! spacign out the points on mounting has nothign to do with the flex of the ski, nothing at all. i have salomon bindings, and i wont buy aything else, they release when they're supposd to. its a good thing too, i dont want my bindings staying on no matter what (rossignol, aka shitass binding). get your facts straight.

Wow, props to EmcEE for knowing his shit... there's one man I don't want to argue with.
Some thoughts: Whoever compared the Line bindings to Line skis was right. In two years, they'll be better. You can't just create something out of nothing. Live with it, and be happy that Line will replace them for you.
Another quick thought about Marker: The Marker Free is hands-down the best binding I've ever ridden.

My biggest problem is that you're trying to throw entire product lines from one company into an 'TEH BESTEST EVAR!!!!11 no matter what' bin and entire product lines from two other equally competant company into the 'Yuo ca'nt use these or yuo will die a horrible death' bin based mostly on your opinions of the riders using them and less so (in the case of Salomon) on one experience of a binding releasing correctly because you have poor skiing form and (in the case of Marker) because you have never used it and don't see any big freestyle pro team for them.
Why is it that your and everyone else's experiences with a product don't line up? Because you had different experiences with the product. So don't try to make one company sound like the solution for any skier, any time.
My intial post was merely to provide a contrast of opinion, and while you continued to make personal attacks and presented completely unfounded opinions, I attempted to provide factual, ad-hominem free rebuttals. If you think that the most convincing way to talk to someone is to say 'I'm right, you're wrong, so f--- you', I guess that it is your free right to think so, and that if you think you're cool because you sound like a big tough guy on Teh IntarWeb, that it is also your free right to think so.

I agree with kamik and Ee. from kazi, the marker free's are a kick ass binding. i bought the race bindings for my first set of skis 4 years ago, and they were heavy and just didn't work too well for what i was doing. so i didn't really look at them again until the rep let me ride the free's. they are so killer. they can take on look any day. and from Ee, he's right. this is an opinion forum. so chill on the f*ck you stuff. look might be one persons favorite, rossi anothers, marker anothers, and line anothers. that's what life is about. doing what you love on the gear you choose to line. who gives a rats ass if a whole bunch of pros ride look.

emc ur a tool for thinking that i have poor form, and ur a tool for thinging that the bindings dont prerelease, even when the din si jacked to 12. u remember usfo halfpipe the year before last, when philou wound land the mctwist 9 perfectly every time the bindings popped off??? then at one point he takes and throws the ski in a pissed off rage?? thought so. i have never heard anyone complain about looks or rossis. i have heard lots and lots of complaints about markers. and most people ride looks or rossis. the kid asked for comparison i threw it down in plain form and u come on and try to give some technical response that you read in the product catalogs.

i started out this year riding 03 salomon s810 ti's, and quite simply, i didn't like them at all...this years model is not very well put together...they will hold up, but they pre-release like no other. last year i rode s912 ti's and they were fine, they released at all the right times and never pre-released. i switched over to marker 1200 free rides a couple weeks ago and i love those bindings to death. they have never pre-released and they come off when they are supposed to.
---and to five0, i think i picked the markers up for about $130.

the marker toepieces are too unefficient for me. They're so big and wide because they have like 3 or 4 springs in them. My Rossis have 1 spring that works flawlessly. So simple and ingenious with few parts to break. Markers have so many pieces that could break. Just my opinion. BTW: not sure if this has been said because this thread has gotten kinda big for my interest, but line is completely remaking the binding for next year, so give them a little more time.
