contrary to popular belief, the long-term effects of global warming would plunge most of the northern and southern hemispheres into a mild "ice-age." After the atmosphere warms, currents stop their regular flow in the oceans and thus stops bringing regular climate systems to their usuall place. Ever seen the day after tomorrow? it's based on that theory with a lot of supporting research behind it.
You guys should do you homework before saying all the snow is going to melt and it'll rain.

uh, last time i checked "ice age" means "way the fuck too cold to live, let alone ski", so i'll continue being pissed off when people don't recycle and drive in their unnecessarily large cars.

good for you, however, I wonder how much gas was used in mining the nickle and rare metals that are used in the Priu's battery>?

rare metals? no. But yes, they did spend time to mine the nickel for the battery, which is slightly more than a normal car battery. So overall the prius does in fact save gas, but not as much as people think, you are correct. People also think that owning a prius will save them money compared to if they bought a normal priced sedan. Well the quality of these hybrid cars is fairly shitty, and they run super high prices. You have to run the wheels off of it to make your money back, literally.

people buy them for two reasons, money savings, and becuase of their own environmental consciouness
I apllaud people that buy them even if there more expensive, yet they do use less gas.

you also get a tax write off in some states for driving a ULEV vehicle too, so for every year you drive the car, you get money back. they end up being no more expensive than a regular car.

Man my honda civic hybrid cost like 2,000 more than a regular one. Your not paying 50,000 bucks for a hybrid. You will make that money back. 50 mpg is way better than 30, which is still very good for most cars. Average car is probably around 20. I'm filling up half as much as you honkeys.

well you can get a civic for less than 15 grand if you wanted to, with close to the same quality and options available from most hybrids. The quality and options in the hybrid are pretty shitty. Also the batteries will eventually die, which is about 1/3 the cost of the car. I applaud people who use them, but i am saying I will not get one until they are more efficiently made.

oh and I bet the average MPG for motor vehicles is faaaaaar less than 20 mpg. Would be interesting to get a real statistic, but with all the older cars and trucks, and Semi trucks, the average mialge must be HORRIBLE.

uhm, no, wrong. this isn't that movie where the new york ice wolfs attack people in frozen boats in the middle of the street outside the arctic ice-library where the military-budgeted helicpoters freeze up while burning octane.

I'll keep rolling in my Range Rover and blowin' diesel farts with my Dodge after reading this. Oh wait, I wasn't going to change anyway. Haha, global warming is a figment of a hippie/activist/ professor/idiot. I might consider going to bio-diesel for my truck though...just to pad my pockets more so I can buy a Range Rover SS.

What everyone needs to realize is that our culture isn't going to change shit. Not a damn thing. You can go out and do all the protesting and bitching you want, and nothing will come of it. People are content living the way they are now. No one wants to drive smaller cars, and take the time out of their day to recycle. We, as a race, really don't care about the future. I'm not saying this is what I believe, but it's the truth. I don't agree with this way of thinking, but that's how it is, and thats how it's going to be until some monumental event happens to make everyone reform.

and we arent gonna get sweet powder anymore, and our kids are all gonna have skin cancer becuase of the onzone layer disappearing and our grandkids are all gonna be dead from...blah blah blah
truth is global warming is happening, but they cannot predict what will happen where, to what degree. And you're right the majority of people won't change. But there are plenty of cases in history where a minority caused a paradigm shift.
