Ill soon be in the market for a fairly high end video cam somewhere around the price range of 700-800. Looking for something with good quality, mini dv preferably, and all the other good stuff. I plan on purchasing a lense for it latter so thats not really an issue. Any suggestions or help in finding me a new video cam would help.

save yourself some money and just buy a consumer camera around 300 or 400. For $800 you're really not going to get THAT great of a camera. It might come with a few extra features (that you'll never use anyways) so unless you're going to drop 2 grand on a GL2, or DVX1000, just go to walmart and get a camera.

broadcast quality? have you ever seen americas funniest videos? pretty much anything is broadcast quality aslong as the whites and blacks don't peak. And you arn't going to find a camera for 800 that looks as good as a 2000 camera. also the real cheap 3ccd cams suck, the chips are so small you'd be better off with a one chip. You friends camera isn't as great as you think it is.
Like the other guy said, spend 400 or 2000 anything in between is a waste of money.
