Ski team BULLSHIT!!!!!!!

im on a race team for one reason only, uber cheap mammoth trip, and no monday school. i get to go to mammoth, but the following rules have been laid down from our coach.

race skis only
no park
10 pm kerfew
team "free ride"
::: any violation of these rules will result in having our parents come and pick us up::: how gay is that.

I just got back from my school provincials. First day I raced my runs, then freeskied for a bit. Second day we had off to freeski, so I went to hit up the park. First run of the day, threw a five over the first table, landed leaning over my tips, hit my face off the snow in between my skis, but didn't eject. Couldn't ski for the rest of the weekend. Fuck. Now my knees are fucked.

The Moral: Race teams suck.

i am on this team also and it is gay. you get the same punishment for doing drugs or drinking as you do for skiing the terrain park.

they don't want their racers getting hurt, I go t2 kids one who races and one who rips the park up. Last weekend at our state championships 3 racer kids got seriously hurt enough before their race that they weren't able to race.

Don't knock the racers they are aggressive enough to hit stuff hard. If your coach knows you and knows that you ski park then there shouldn't be an issue. I know that my kid wasn't allowed into the park before his race. no big deal, he was there to race.. BTW he rides twins alot too. Both boys cross train.

wow a ski team full of kiddies has a CURFEW and can't go break bones in the park? the fact that anyone is surprised is unbelievable.

at least they aren't having a spelling test, then they would have your parents come to pick you up for sure!!!!!

Another reason is also because they don't want to fuck up their race skis. They are so finely tuned that hitting a jump or (even more unthinkable) and rail or box would serioulsy fuck up the tunage on their skis. Sounds dumb, I know, but it really isn't something they want to risk. Other than that, your ski coach is a raging cunt.

Fuck them, just bring your twins,and go hit the park, if they call your parents to say "OMGGGGG!!!! HE SKIED THE PARK AND NOW YOU HAVE TO COME PICK HIM UP!!!!!" you're parents will say "shut the fuck up, i paid for this trip, let him go ski where he wants to, i'm not coming out to pick him up..."

the real issue is bending skis, gs skis in the pipe = death. but my coch brings kid to the park all the time to practice for airs in downhill and super g. i hate it, hitting jumps in a tuck looks and feels so gay

Question/Point - You signed up for this program, what made you think they were going to change their rules JUST for you?

2) How old are you? 10?
3) Do you have such limited enjoyment of this sport that being forced to go to Mammoth and ski on race skis makes you cry?
4) What would you do past 10pm at mammoth anyway, you know no one there, you obviously are not old enough to be drinking or have your own rental car...what would you do other than WHINE like a little spoiled racer

im also on a racing team, but i dont really like it and im always skipping practice to go hit the park. ive soem saturdays and almost got kicked off the team a couple of times. it sucks. but the cool part about it is that a couple of my friends are on the team too, and hit the park with me. they are mad fun to watch when they do this because they are wearing the full spandex suit thing, and have the racing skis, but they are still pulling 5's and 7's, and kicking all those "hardcore" park skiers asses.

bring all of your skis, twintips included. but dont tell the coach you have your twintips. then go to the park anyways and leave your twintips at the bottom of the mountain. after skiing in the park for a couple hours go get your racing skis back and tell your coach that you saw some kid take a huge fall and wanted to make sure he was ok before you took off and you got lost getting back to the coarse. then at night be in bed by 10:00, and sneak out at 10:15. tha plan is flawless. and store your twintips in a locker so that you dont have to carry them back and forth everyday.

The only way to solve the problem is to take control of the ski team. Have some sort of coup d'etat. I am now captain and president of my ski team. On powder days we do not race (or practice). If conditions are too good we do not race. We take warm up laps in the park between runs. We do not do any sort of training on gates. The closest we get is practice in the park making it between the flags on the jumps.

So we don't have more than 3 people every show up to the races anymore. I can't blame them, I wouldn't either when I am at Mammoth and there is 2 feet of fresh out there.

how long do u go to mammoth for?? if its a day then who cares?? if its a couple...then go along with it...and then on the last day hit up june...or bring a diff jacket and then dissapear...out on your other jacket and when they look for you they wont be able to find you...if its the last day or you are only there for one day what do u care if they call your parents or u get kicked off??

First of all if you're close enough to mammoth for your team to practice there then just drive there yourself. Or if you're on the race team its fairly reasonable for your coaches to expect you to actually race. And, god forbid, you might actually get good at skiing too. But if you wanna ski park just find your own ride there don't cry because you can't get a free ride to mammoth every day. The hill my team practices at is smaller than the landings in your park, so stop complaining.
