i'm planning to go to MSU for college after next year (senior year) and i was wondering how i could go about getting residency in Montana so that i can pay in-state tuition. If i have to take a year off of school and work that would be cool i just want to know what it takes. Also, if you go to MSU what were your gpa/sat scores?
You'll have to work your ass off, it's expensive as hell to live in Bozeman. I'm not sure how long it takes to gain residency, but a year wouldn't be a bad idea with how good the skiing/mountain biking/fly fishing is around here.
im not worried about living expenses as much as i am about the tuition though. In state is 10 grand cheaper or something like that. it'd be worth the year or whatever it is to get residency. plus even if it is expensive we will be able to work while ski bumming to make money to live and hopefully gain residency and save a bit for tuition at the same time depending on what kind of job we could get
Well you have to pick where you want to go skiing first. If you're going to go for Big Sky, I bid you good luck, a season pass there is over $1,000 now I think. For Bridger you can probably find a place in town if you can get a roomate(or two or three) to split the cost with, otherwise you're stuck in Belgrade which will significantly increase driving time to and from the hill.
They have a terrain park, but it's pretty pathetic. Definitely go to Big Sky if you want to ski a terrain park. I personally like the overall skiing at Bridger better(less rocks), but Big Sky can be incredible with a good base and some powder.
If you guys do make it out to Bozeman I'd be happy to show you around Bridger, I don't have the $$ for Big Sky most of the time. I won't be in school for another year so I'll have a whole lot of spare time.
are you going to MSU? we're juniors atm but volkrider and i are 90% sure we're heading out there and probably workin for a year before school...this summer we're coming out to visit the school though
Um, yeah if you enjoy living in a tent. Anyways, I live here, and I'm gunna go to MSU when I graduate (Next december). You are right, instate tuition is like 4500 and out of state is around 15000, so it is a huge difference. To gain residency, I think you just have to live here for a year and have a job the whole time or something.
yo milkshake... are u familiar with collegeboard.com? cuase u can compare colleges and it will give u all the stats that tell u how hard it is to get in and what not
yea man, our school requires us to do it haha for MSU it says a 1000 on the sat and 2.8 gpa and i ahve like a 3.3 so im not too scared about gettin in...are you a senior now?
