i just wonder if anyone else has the same problem?... when im at home watching ski movies or just thinking of skiing, im so pumped to try new stuff, but when i hit the park im pussy out... scared of injuries and stuff... its really pisses me of, because its a problem to progress...
i used to be scared...but not of falling...i used to get really disoriented in the air (which ended up being worse than the resulting crash, it was freaky) but now im more comfy wumfy
yeah, that used to happen to me a lot too, still does sometimes. I think it gets better with time though. most of the time I just do it even though I might be shaking with fear and it usually turns out good..and then you feel so good after stomping shit
yeah it doesn't hurt half as bad as it looks. sometimes while i'm fucking around with my friends i try to throw 7's and shit, but i never land. fortunately, no serious injuries. try music though, it helps.
i always hip check my 3rd time when i do a down rail.....1st two times i grease then the 3rd time i always fuck up.....worst that can happen on rails is that you have a permanent hematoma(lump) which is what i have from 2 years ago, im gettin an mri soon though
made a deal with one of my best buds i ski with that if we pussy out on anything than wed each kick each others ass untill we do it...its worked well soo far...try the same...cause once u do something once thats the hardest part...after u like...ahh wtf was i being such a pussy for...
music helps a ton tho, i had music the other day and my brother didnt and i wanted to do so much more then him
what also helps is if you have some1 with you that can do basically the same stuff and if they did somthin and you didnt then itd make u mad, well watch them do it and it kinda makes you do it
heres what you can do, call out a trick that you havent tried before while on the lift, and if you dont try it your buddy can punch you in the face, then do the same for him.
i was basically like that this season, i didnt try anything too hard because i didnt want to hurt myself because its my senior year of highschool and i want to be able to play varsity lasrosse for my last year. next year when im in college and can ski more than once a week, i plan on goin offf the heezy and learning some good shit.
im 17 and still a park pussy, but my pussy is slowly turning more balls like, every season I slowly get better but its mostly due to the fact that I dont ski that often
always help... butter around get ur confidence up.. if ur good at rails slay some so u get up there throw some easy shit and stomp it... when its time to learn... crank ur music get everything out of ur head and just do it! i was the same way last year.. still am a little this year...
deffinently hit everything several times if youre not feeling it before spinning, music deffiently helps a ton, think about the lyrics, not about falling on a rail or something, just take your mind off it that might help, good luck
dont worry man...im in the same boat sorta... except im not scared of getting hurt because i know it doesnt hurt that much but theres a block in my brain or sometihng... ive gotten over it but it just takes skiing with the right people and just kicking it
i use to have that problem, but after your first big digger without gettin hurt it doesnt matter. i prereleased off the lip on a big 7 and got fucked but i was fine
I had the problem but then I started skiing with a buddy and got him to hold my purse for me while I tried something...I suggest the same approach. Or just lose the purse altoghether
skiing is about confonting your fears. skiing is fucking scary sometimes. progress at a steady pace, make sure to scare yourself regularly, and overcome it regularly too. it makes you less scared next time. it also helps to fall a bunch so you realize that it doesn't hurt too much and that the human body is resilient.... i am covered in bruises all over the left side of my body right now because of a rail i was determined to hit... and i'm still ok.
Think how you overcame stuff you know now.. like when you learned how to try a 360 or how you learned how to slide rails. You overcame stuff before, you can do it again.
And for me, I can't ride alone and try new stuff. Ride with kids that are better than you if you can, that will help you realize how much you suck and push you to try harder.
listening to music pumps me up, whgen i listen to it i dont think of any thing else. if i go into the jump or rail thinking im gonna land it, i do. never thing of falure or it will happen. but it is hard to conquor all fear.
im the same and i hate it. i got my friend to make fun of me the other day when i was pussying out and it somewhat worked but i still wish i had more confidence. i know i could throw it its jsut getting the balls to do it
music also pumps be up... i had the same problem for sure, its scary to try something that you could possibly get hurt on, but if you know how to do the trick lets say on the trampoline then you can deff. do it in the park, just takes the courage to do it... keep workin and you'll get it..
