I was out in Vail last week and it was a powder day so i decided to demo some fat skis. The only fat ski they had on the mountain was the salomon gun, but it was a good price. I told the guy i wanted to demo the guns and while i was filling out the info sheet he grabbed a pair, size 165. I noticed that and i told the guy that i wanted size 175. Now i'm 5'6" but a really aggressive skier so i wanted a big powder ski which i knew i could handle and 175 wasn't that big anyway. But the guy kept insisting on giving me the smaller size, so i said,"fuck no bitch, i don't want them damn short sticks!" (not actual words) Finally i convinced the guy to give me the 175's. Is it me or should it not be so hard to get the size that i want and not what their skiing "protocol" goes by. I ended up having a great day of skiing after that and 175 was the perfect size. Has any one else ever had a problem like this with a ski shop?
yep. i'm 5'10" and 150 and i took my 179 PE's to get mounted at my local shop. the guy who worked there bitched at me for about a half hour about how my skis were too long and how i couldn't handle it. i just told him that i didn't really care what his opinion was and i love my PE's to death, wouldn't have gotten them any shorter.
In Colorado at least I kow DIN must be set to certain levels by law, so the shop can't legally do it so it aint there fault. Also I am the smae size have 165 PRs and love em but I'm really light too
