after it snows, hike to east face. best run on the mountain when theres pow cuz most people dont take the effort to get up there, but its soooooo worth it.
The east face hike is super short, there is just a lot of run out at the bottom, if you get some snow, hit the chutes, shadows, and flyin z, white out and huricane usually have good bumbs, esp white out.
yeah steamboats awsome, definatly hike east face, if you kinda explore it for a while there are tons of cliffs around 15-35 ft, just explore all around east face and out of bounds a little and there is sooo much fun stuff. and yeah there will always be powder for a long time after it snows. then at the bottom of east face and all that stuff when you have to traverse, there is this backcountry access gate, i skied almost chest deep powder there cause it is never skied on but you have to traverse for like 10-20 minuites to get back to the mountain. and shadows is like the best run for tree skiing in colorado. and the park is really sweet too.
parents went out there a few weeks ago. they said to ski the trails towards the left, middle.
By the way, if u find a cannon camera on a double diamond through the trees, send it to me...
its super sick u will deff have a good time....i went out there last year at the same time and if the snow is good as it was last year hit up the diamonds on the left side (if ur looking at the trail map) and i jus read in SKIING mag that if u hike 5 minutes from the top of storm peak to the west then they said that there are sum steep lines that are usually waste deep in pow pow...hav fun man! if all possible get ur hands on that issue and read about it!
