they keep the industry alive. i skiied for the first time this year places like shawnee peak and sunday river and HOLY FUCK posers were everywhere. i cant believe how many SHITTY kids had some real dope shit. i can't complain though cuz if the kids that should be wearing twins were the only ones with them the industry would be even more poor.
park attitute sucks in general, there are some that help and are alright though
end of last year i found some fujatives for $150 on ebay, and i wanted to try skiin the park, so i bought em, mounted them and so on.
First time with the fujas in a park, i was just trying some 1's and 3's off a small jump and other guys were telling me i suck and people were yelling shit from the lifts.
how the hell do you progress when it's expected you will know how to do everything?
i think a poser is someone who acts liek they know what they are doing.....and acting liek they know what they are ding is as simple as looking stuper steezed out in your gear.....so if you look ill, but you can't ski.....that mkaes you a poser in my books....just wear shitty cloths till you get good. It sounds stupid, but it would make me happy.
there are some kids that have over $1000 setups they dont even use. i was doing 360's before i had twins, im cool with kids that go through the little parks with nice stuff and are trying shit and trying to get better but the ones that just ride through the big parks and dont do anything kinda bug me, thats purely an opinion.
People tell me Im a poser because I have nice stuff.(Well not that much, people around here are just too stupid and dont know shit)
I admit I sometimes say that I can do stuff I cant, but its just because Im afraid they will mock me or something cuz Ive been skiing for so long and its like my thing.
I can realy rip the rest of the mountain, on park skis. And then when I go in the park, people make fun of me because I struggle with my 3's and rails, because I have good skis.
Well, this year Im telling myself I wont care what people say and just fucking try shit, but have only been out 5 times this season...Meh, stupid maritimes.
Posers are only those who "write checks their bodies cant cash" to quote Top Gun. NOT those who have nice stuff but cant ski. I have several freinds who have nice gear, but they suck and they know it. They are deffinatly NOT posers.
If you have the money to get good stuff and your starting out, why wouldnt you?
if it makes you feel confident , do it.
I find it annoying that its about my second year and im not that good, i go like 10 times a year this is my 6th time ever. Kids are like why do you have a oakley medic if your not that good.I got it for cheap and im just starting basically. Its gay when kids talk shit when your trying new stuff . They don't know you and they look at you like your lame. i hate it.
I know i feel more confident now with good skis and a really warm and comfortable clothes then say, the windbreaker pants and orange burton jacket.
It psyches me out sometimes, when kids expect me to be good cus i have nice stuff then there like dude you don't deserve that shit. But the thing thats cool is some of the people are tight and like at leat your not a fag and sit around.
i dunno all im trying to say is that poser is a gay thing and people are fags sometimes
there deffinatly a fine line between posers and wannabees...and im not quite sure what it is but what i believe is, when i started out i could of been looked at as a poser cuz i only did the ridee on boxes and all that. But as you progress you start to get a feel for the park and get more confidence. A poser in my view is someone who has all the good gear, and trys to do tricks, but cant make them loo good or fail in doing their trick. A wannabee in my view is someone who talks shit, has got the gear, gets in your way and thinks that hes better then everyone around him
i think the poser attitude is somewhat caused, by the shitty park attitude today, the reason a lot of kids go into the park and claim they are good is because if they admit they arent good people are going to shit all over them and if they try stuff they'll get the same reaction
posers are people who don't research their stuff before buying. i don't care if you buy good shit, just don't go out to the local shop and buy the most expensive stuff there b/c you think it'll help. it won't.
why cant all skiers just be chill, who cares if someone cant do shit, they are learning , there isnt a rule saying theey cant get good gear. Get off their backs, you were a 'poser' once too.
i have pipe cleaners and im not the greatest skiier...i dont even use my own skis for my favorite trick....i use my brothers shorter skis for front flips....but just cause i saved my money ALL year for them and acctually found a pair dosnt mean im a poser
yes buying expensive shit automatically helps you land a corked 5 right!!? Not really, at one time you sucked ass, and compared to some people, you stil suck ass.
I saw this kid in december and he looked sick. had nice goggles giro g10 with a visor. spray painted pink poles and sick outerwear and he was just watchin his friends do the box and i asked him why he wasnt doin it and he said he was gonna fall so i conivinced him to do it. He slide it straight i cheered and he did it again and can almost slide a box sideways. I hate kids who are dicks to kids who arent good. If you cheer and shit it makes them feel good ya know?
i mean i wear orage and stuff but i suck at park, that doesnt mean anything. A) the person could just like to ski other stuff more and B) mebbe they juss started. i just started skiin park that doesnt make me a poser
dude seriously just stfu, you don't know these kids at all, and just because u see them a few times around the mtn doesn't mean you know them, they could be working their ass off during the summer to get this nice gear
it's just wierd, it looks like they know what they're doing (you can usually tell by how they drees/what they're riding) but then they just coast through the park doin nothin, doesn't bother me... just confuses
Yeah you gotta start somewhere... but I don't wear expensive stuff... my skis are wasted, worse than anything almost any1 would've seen, and I can ride okay. I hate it when I see someone walk in, throw down a sick pair of skis, wearing awesome outerwear, go for 1 run then go sit in the cafe the rest of the day.
same amount of posers, its just that there are alot more people in the sport, alot more pros too. before there used to be a movie that could fit all pros. now there is a almost totally diff cast of pros in every diff movie
for me i support all skiers cuz we all have to start somwhere, but somtime it can be hard. like i here kids in my school who i am way better then and who like skiing not ever half as much as i do tlaking about thier dope new setups and how they are going on these trips out west and shit over vaca that i cant even come close to affording but i would apreciate 10 times more then they would
Someone said this before but just because a kid is sitting around in the park doesn't mean he sucks at skiing...maybe he likes the big mountain type skiing and his friends or crew or whoever he was with wanted to go chill at the park but they had chilled all day on big mountain where they weren't the best with him so he returned the favor...just because you ski now a days does not mean you HAVE to shred up the park the whole time your at the mountain yeah?
yea man next time you see someone like that trying a trick that you are good at and doing really bad give them some tips or somethin, the more comfortable they fell ridin in the park and around park riders the faster they'll get better.
okay the poser definition needs to change, if you have good shit and your just starting theres nothing wrong with that. as long as you care more about progressing and getting better more than you do about wats covering your ass and wat ur riding around on. but if u care more about wat u buy and how u look/dont really care about getting good and learning new shit then yes you are a poser
a poser is also someone who wears some huge gay jeresy and huge pants but cant even hop on a box because they are too steezed out. If a kid has a nice jacket and pants thats cool good for them but all the other things like the bandanas and chains and this and underhlemet goggle steez thats posin posin to be tanner
you guys forget that nice stuff is better than shitty stuff.. If I had a shitty coat I would get wet and cold. It's not all about showing off for people on the chair, get over yourselves.
damnnnn hate is sooo hot these days. its not going to happen, but wouldnt things be better if everyone on this sight was into positive feedback, reasonable disagreement. and ppl were helpful to the "posers" and the "non posers" etc.
