Has anyone else heard the new Matisyahu album? I'm just wondering what other people thought about it. Personally I think its well below his first album. It just has an over-produced sound to it. Its too poppy for my tastes. He's a great artist, I just hope any further albums are closer to his first.

Hate to break it to you but something tells me Matisyahu's albums aren't going to get any less 'poppy' when he is on MTV.

I suppose it hasn't come out yet, but you can still get ahold of copies. But he does seem to be following the trend of so many good bands. They are small and undiscovered, they put out greate albums. Then they get discovered, have too much industry influence on them, and all subsequent albums are sub par. Oh well, such is the music business.

i don't think he is very good on CD at all. i DO think he rocks super hard live though. I've got an advance copy at the station that i havn't listened to yet.
and for the record, just because a band is signed or popular or poppy does not mean they suck. and just because they have a good producer doesn't mean they sold out. sometimes it does, but i know plenty of poppy sellouts that are on tiny ass labels or self-produced.

I belive he was revering the the sound of the music as poppy. I just got Stubbs and I really like it but I hope his new album doesnt suck.
