learn how to ski first

now a days kids are going straight to the park. Today some kid can bairly ski up to a big table then throws a huge backflip then can bairly ski out the landing. Is this just here or most resorts?

i agree with you...many kids these days throw one backflip and they think that they can go pro. screw that. if anything they should tune their big mountain skills, then head to the park...get their balance taken care of. it annoys me to see this.

whats your peoples problem? if somone cant ski out the landing(witch i really dought cause they somhow made it all the way to the jump so im betting they have some cross country skills) and second why should you even care? it has nothing to do with you and you should mind your own buisness...

dpsin definetly has a point,if you see a kid hucking a backflip and you get mad,it probably means your jealous cuz he could of just started,just ski for yourself and dont worry what the other skiers are doing

Big mountain skiing at your resort isnt that great...excpet for fernie....but there more stuff to do in the park.

my intire crew waited for his ass at the bottem of the hill and beat the shit out of him. i broke his poles agianst a tree, and we snapped one of his skis. fucker got uppercutted so much. he was bleeding from his eyes and shit, crying like a little pussy. i busted out a body slam on his ass and broke both of his arms. the ski patroler broke up the fight and clipped all of our tickets. we where gonna beat the shit out of the patroller but my mom came to pick us up.

also ,dude how can kids hone their 'big mountain skills' if they only hav a tiny mt to ski at? seriously how can u expect some people like in like pa or nj and ski mts with like 20 trails to go good at all mt riding? think about that first and maybe that kid is just crazy mofo who only gets to ski like a couple times a year cause of money , time or whatever

At my hill we have alot of bc to hit, but no park...its awsome skiing but it would be nice to ride a park once in a while

LineskiNJ. We have 22 runs here so don't dis small mountains. There's an average of over 12 meters (38 feet) of snowfall here so we have pow as well as park. This year just started for us because we got hit hard by el nino :( but we've got a park with a wall ride, huge rainbow rail, huge trapezoid rail, sexchange rail, kinked box, C box and a whole bunch of other stuff and we had enough pow to make some awesome jumps yesterday that had super soft landings.

i guess im making the assumption that these kids are skiing at places that DO have the type of terrain that you can really improve on. so if that is not the case, then i really have no room to talk, becuase they cant help it. but they can still get down skiing techniques on smaller hills, like balance, carving, etc.
and alpentalik, i happen to think big mountain skiing is not gay...are you gay? arent you the kid that posted some big mountain pics awhile back.........

There are a lot of little huckers out there that shouldn't be in the terrain park. One really has to learn when to do a certain trick or not. At the beginning of last year I saw someone throw a backflip off an icy hip first day out. Naturally, he fucked up and broke his wrist.

Huckers and newbies shouldn't be in the terrain park because they end up hurting themselves giving snowboarding and skiing sound a lot more dangerous than it is. If people just watch what they are doing and know how and when to do it, terrain parks would be a lot safer than they are now.

yah, this kid at my school used to make fun of me cause i'd been skiing like all my life, and he had just started like a week ago, and he could do a 3 and i couldnt. i tried to defend myself by saying that i could actually ski and he could hardly make it to the jump, but then he tore his ACL so no defense was necesary, because who culd ski better now?!?

Yeah i agree so much, it pisses me off so hardcore. I have like 250 vertical feet on my hill so its understandable why we chill at the park most of the time, but it pisses me off when some skater throws on a pair of skiboards, throws something big, and gets respect even though they can't make it down the hill w/ out falling 3 or 4 times. It sucks! so its good to know not everyone respects those little turkeys

i afraid skiing might become like snowboarding were it's a bunch of posers who just sit at the top of a kicker or pipe and then say that it's 'not good' or 'played out'.... if kids don't learn to ski first were just gonna have a bunch of park rats that are a bad representation of our sport

I would've totally agreed with most of the stuff said so far but i saw something incredible this weekend. This little kid who had to be around 13-14 with old school skinny skis and the goofiest form hit the biggest jump in the park before i could muster enough courage to hit it. he just hauled balls hit it and tucked his legs up underneath him. its probably mostly stupidity and lack of common sense but it pretty ballsy. it must've been a pretty hard landing with those skinny's too. some kid's get hurt pretty bad cause they're going beyond their abilities but at least it offers good entertainment.

Man, after livin in ohio for 10 years, and occasionally (once a year maybe) getting to ski pow backcountry, i can honestly say, I could care less if i ever ski anouther park in my life. I have made it my goal to move to Utah or some other place like Hood where i can ski pow. Lots of Pow. Oh god, I love pow, soooooo fun to drop cliffs and make big turns through it. Yeah, you deffinatly should be able to ski. i mean, shit if you don't look good just skiing on a reg hill, how can you look good in the air, or let alone skiing switch?
