The Bush administration is accepting a bid for the United Arab Emirates to run port security at 6 of the US's largest ports including New York, Newark, Philadelphia, Miami, and New Orleans. The UAE has been critized by the US government for supporting terrorism. The UAE was one of 3 countries in the world to recognize the Taliban government of Afghanistan when it was in power. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON? Congress (including mass numbers of republican senators and congressmen) is trying to pass a bill outlawing this, but President Bush has already said he would veto such a bill. I am politically conservative, but this is BULLSHIT. We need some kind of uprising here. Why send troups to fight a war across the world when our boarders aren't safe to begin with and then go and turn over port security to a nation that has been alligned with terrorism?
