Nah, I read a hugeass science journal about it once. Too bad weed has killed most of it. It involved heating up (?) a photon to an insanely high temp or something, and somehow the photon went through the test chamber before it entered, hence it had gone back in time. I dont remeber the details... google it maybe
i saw on tv that one of the ways is to get energy from a black hole, which they said wouldnt be too hard to do, but we would need to find a black hole which would be really hard, or just find some way to go faster than the speed of light so time slows down all the way, then reverses or something.
you guys are all thinking of time as though it is an absolute mesurment, time "slows down" as you move faster, if you reach the speed of light time "stops", the light coming off the clock cannot reach your eyes because your eyes are moving at the speed of light and therefore cannot register any change in time. the time measured on the moving body vs. the time measured by a stationary clock you will notice that as the moving body approaches the speed of light its clock will run slower. the formula "time (stationary body)= time(moving body)/(1-(V^2/C^2)^1/2)
meaning if V=C you are dividing by 0 resulting in undefined or infinite time, for time to last for ever it must therefore stop or pause. time is all relative hence the name "theory of relativity"
so we'll never time travel on earth then b/c it's impossible to make a perpetual motion machine here b/c of gravity, friction, and some other physics stuff.
yea me too. but cool i think going back in time would be rad. like in that southpark when the nerds do it and then they fight over star trek. that was a good one
the way the equation works you can slow down time by traveling really fast (like 99.99% the speed of light)and therefore travel forward in time yet because you cant have negative speed you cant go back
Oh and i think that scientists 'could' make a mini black hole in laboratory, but they're afraid it might absorb everything and become fucking huge and destroy the planet and kill everyone, even the bunnies
i know how to make things go faster than the speed of light. here is how it works.
if a rocket is going close to the speed of light, and travels between a star and a planet, the rockets shadow will be projected on the planet at a larger size than the rocket, and will therefor be traveling faster than the rocket. if the distances and speeds are right, it is possible for the shadow to trave faster than the speed of light.
i agree, fuck people on this site who respond to threads with logical things to say, fuck them. think how much better these forums would be if we just told each other to shut the fuck up with every response...or i just got an even better idea, nobody even post anymore, lets all just shut the fuck up wouldnt that be great. just think, you wouldnt even need to check the forums anymore because no body would post.
From now on lets all shut the fuck up.
im not saying everyone needs to study physics, but the theory of special relativity is taught in grade 12 physics, it is by no means time travel, it simply states that time is relative to how fast you are moving, similarly distance and mass are also relative to how fast you are going. these are not overly difficult principles. if you dont understand maybe read the post again, or better yet ask, maybe someone will clarify it and you could even learn something about the universe we all live in.
a very logical response, i commend the fact that you are questioning statments and looking for logical ways that there could be a flaw. however light speed is the maximum amount of particle motion (if you accept that light is made of particles) just as absolute zero means there is no particle motion even at a quantum level. but this is why Einstein's theory is called the theory of relativity, because everything is relative. if you are in between the star and the rocket, the rocket will appear smaller because it takes longer for the light from the front of the rocket to reach your eyes than light from the back of the rocket, this effect is un noticable on earth but travelling near the speed of light would make this effect very noticable (as i said in an earlier post, distance is relative to speed just as much as time) this would in effect create a smaller looking rocket and because it takes time for the light (or lack there of) to cast a shadow on the planet behind the rocket, and then to bounce back to your eyes, the shadow would still appear behind the rocket, therefor not travelling faster then the speed of light.
