I wax at least every other time I go skiing. Ideally you should wax your skis every time before you ski, but wax can get expensive.
If you don't wax at all, then your bases aren't going to have any protection from the sun and stuff so they can get dried out among other things.
I would say at a minimum, wax once a month or every two weeks.

If you ride a lot you could wax maybe once a week. Because if you don'T wax them they will go slower and your ski's life will be shorter. And it is impossible to put too much wax.

wax before you go, mostly melt candle wax on your skis then un-plug the iron wait 5seconds and iron it in. but intensly wax with good wax like twice a seson.

Paste wax is actually almost worse for your bases and only lasts for a few ski runs.
The cheapest wax I have found is the Dakine All-temp wax. Just use an old iron set at the wool setting and drip some wax along the bases then iron it in, let it cool for about 20 minutes and scrape it off. That's the cheapest and easiest way. Not really the best either, but it gets the job done.

At hood you should also tune edges every other time... it must be something in the weather but skis rust so fast here...

i do it gives it a hard base, trust me when it solidifies out on the snow it cools down and becomes slippy and it lasts like 2 days! i use it and so do most of the people i ski with!

haha for sure, I do it anyway. If you wipe your edges down with a rag right when you get home it usually helps stop rusting though. But I always forget or get too lazy.

ski wax performs better, but i find candle wax a cheper and easyer way of waxing, try it and feel the difference.

Candle wax will make your skis ski worse.
With ski wax, you apply it, then scrape as much as you possibly can off, so all that is left is the wax that was absorbed into the porous base material.
If you cover your base with candle wax, you pretty much just cover the base, because candle wax isnt designed to be absorbed in the same way flourocarbon, and even the most lame hydrocarbon ski wax is designed to.

I try to wax once a week as I have access to a tuning room here at school. If you use the correct wax your skis will rip in all conditions, its nice to have the right wax, no worries about coming up short

i wax mine every couple of days. if there is a big shiftin snow conditions, i will wax my skis with a different wax
a proper waxing job with proper wax makes for faster skis without a doubt
if you really dont care, you dont need to wax your skis. you basically cant wax too often, unless you use a super hot iron (dont do that).

i say wax every 3 or 4 days of skiing, but if you havent skied in more than 2 weeks, wax before your 1st day.
then do a summer wax at the end of the season
and unless youre skiing park more than 1/2 the time, do your edges for every 2 times you wax.

thats why you iron it in, just make sure you take the iron out first.and on the slopes takes off a layer so it gets smooth and works well.

a good wax job also helps with the scratchs in the base. you can never wax enough but atleast wax every week or every other week if you don't ski often. i try to get mine with the correct snow conditions so that im not going 2 mph down a 40* pitch.

When it's cold I'll wax mine every 1-2 days, and when it's warm I do it every day. Slush will dry your bases super fast, they'll be dry halfway through the day most of the time.

when u start to get white shit on ur bases...its called base burn..it will screw up ur bases if u dont wax them...if u ski more than 3 times a week..try to do it everyweek..
plus it makes you go faster...and who doesnt like going fast

There is a reason why ski waxes are fluorinated... Candle wax doesn't have the properties that allow it to repel water the same way ski waxes do.
Yeah, candle wax probably works, but there is a reason why almost nobody uses candle wax to wax their skis. If you already have an iron and scraper, why not just get some basic ski wax? You're not saving much by using candle wax, and you're probably screwing up your bases as well.
