Freestyle/Freeride athletes get ripped off contract wise?

On my way back from whistler last weekend, I had a chance to stop at Squamish's fine 7-11 and I happened to purchase a copy of Mountain Bike Action. In it is a shot of Wade Simmons(Pro MTB Rider, Rocky Mountain/Oakley, one of the best out there, probably) dropping a 40 foot cliff on his RM Sig. Model. The shot was used as an Oakley ad, so many of you will soon see it. Anyways, Simmons' agent happened to meet the stunt coordinators for XMen2, showed them the Oakley ad, and asked them what they would pay a stuntman to do the same thing. Their answer? Probably between $100 000-$160 000 US. One shot. Not a season contract, not a bonus, but ONE SHOT OF A 40ft CLIFF HUCK FOR $100 000-$160 000 US. Knowing that a stuntman would get payed that much for one shot, and knowing that most freestyle sports athletes get payed MUCH LESS than that for single and even multi season contracts, might it be true that companies don't pay their riders enough money? I understand that ski companies may not have the profits of a major film studio, but maybe riders deserve more cash for what they do?

Its not like there is alot of demand in movies for people to ski off cliffs. Maybe XXX could have used some freestyle athletes to make some of their scences better

I don't know shit about mountain bike cliff dropping, but that seems to me that it would be somewhat similar to a skier a cliff around 200 feet or something. A 40 foot drop on a bike would be intense for sure.

yeah but thats the differenc between the movies and sports. most athletes have contracts for competing and getting the company name out there. and how many times in movies are things blacked out or something because a certain brand wasnt a sponsor... and if athletes did just ride for the purpose of hollywood entertainment, wouldnt that take the fun out of it?

i dont know - i think it would be fun to make $160,000 in a day of work, and then just spend the rest of the year riding for yourself

what do you think is more hardcore, mountain biker jumping a cliff that big or a skier jumping a 100+ footer. I think the mountain bike is pretty damn hardcore.
