Hey
Before you read be warned that this is about a page long. I don't usually rant this long but when I do I have a fairly good reason. Don't flame this post because I am looking for some serious feedback. Thanks
So all week we have been getting snow, constantly (which is a change). I would guess we got about a foot, possibly two? We have already had two Springs this year where the snow completely melted away and came back, it's a bitch.
So any who I come home after class and decide to go night skiing. I grab my skis and get all of my gear together and head down the hill around 7pm. I get down there and look at the temp, + bloody 4 celcius (about 40 f).
First run was fine. I went into the park to see that they finally made the walls better because they were blowing snow on it all week and make steep walls that shoot you up. Downside is how narrow the pipe is, it was probably 20 feet wide (not sure how big it actually was)
So I drop in and try it, seems good the walls are ok, still crooked. I talk to a ski patrol and try to find out where Richard is (lead ski patrol and head park guy) and find out he’s over at the tube park for it's opening.
I catch the lift back up for a few more runs before I go over there and then it that’s to rain, and rain heavy. This makes the night turn to shit.
So on my last run I head on over to talk to him. I get there and ask him if the pipe is going to be cut wider and he says yes but not tonight because of the rain. Then I tell him the idea of making the pipe walls straight by "Line cutting" with the chain saw.
The second I finish explaining it he says no too much work. Our pipe isn't that long. I'm not sure how long most pipes are but I know ours isn's that long. Then I say what if we had 10 people to do it, and he still says no.
This gets me thinking about what he asked me when I first met him, what do people want to see in the park. The majority of people at my hill ski pipe because there isn't much else to do. The pipe should have the most attention paid to it because that is what’s used the most, but it doesn't get it.
So I'm standing there looking at him, with rain piss pouring down on me, thinking you want to get a park crew together, but won't put the time in to make a good pipe? What the hell is up with that?
He’s lead ski patrol at my hill so he has a lot on his plate and would have to take care of other matters before the park. So why doesn’t the hill hire someone else to maintain the park? It's really pissing me off that he wouldn't even consider that idea about the pipe.
This was a long rant, I had to get it out, now I need to know what you guys think of the whole situation and what I should do about it. Sorry it was so long but if you read it all thank you.
Cheers,
-aaron
