is just me or do the salomon (particularily the s912ti) bindings suck ass like my friend has them and has to crank his din to 9 but he is only like 140 and my looks are set on 5.5 and im 155 and they never blow out....
no problem with my 912ti's whatsoever. don't over-generalize and say that ALL salomon bindings suck because you're friend had a bad experience with one
i've seen people with messed up brakes and such but taht's about it, and isn't it true that if you have a smaller boot than the din will be higher, compared to a larger boot at the same skier ability? Or maybe I hav ethat wrong
salomons have the tendancy to loose thier fitment throughout the season if you ski hard or dont treat your gear well. other than that, i have never seen anything bad happen to them. now markers on the other hand....
my s912's stood up to a full season of abuse and are still strong, your buddy must be like 300lbs or something!
i'm 185 and my din is at 6 or 7 with no probs..
yes, adjusting Salomons yourself is a bad idea. The wings need to be tightened and checked in a shop unless you really know what you are doing.
Overall Salomon bindings aren't as durable, but I think they are okay. I would buy Rossi or Look every time, but guess what: I haven't been skiing because of a destroyed ankle when my brand new Look p12 jibs didnt release correctly. It can happen with any binding, especially when we are flying through the air like madmen
ok this is n-o's friend and they wrent adjusted right at the start so ever since i did them myself they've been fine and my dins are at 6. p.s. the guy who mounted my bindings was an old crazy nazi who didnt know what he was doing. so lick the choch nolan.
jay dont be a fuck head they are at 8 not 6 cuase you had to crank them the fuck up.
anywho i dont hate salomon but i have treyed there shit and dont like it and you know what that isnt illegal
salomon bindings have been a very reliable binding in the past. But sadly this year I have seen four or five snap, that is the titanium piece under the heel. This is in the 912ti. Salomon fixes this problem by replacing the plate with a more durable one, which I think should be done in the first place. So I do agree that these bindings suck right now, this is hard to accept, seeing how good the bindings have been in the past, but I'll look at what is actually happening.
What's the weight difference and overall binding difference between say the 12's and anything higher? Because I ride a rossi power 140 and i definately don't use it for it's high din (I"m only at 8.5 with about a size 11.5us boot size) I guess I'm asking are the bindings higher than 12 a lot stronger/heavier?
im 5'6 135 lbs, have not have even 1 pre release problem yet, i havent touched my din which is set at 6 ( i have the s912 ti) but anywho the plastic around the screws just cracked so my heelpeice isnt attacted by the back two screws. so the durability really really really pisses me off.
any plastic binding sucks period, give me a "light" plastic binding and I promise you I will have shattered it within a week. Its all about metal racestock bindings, unless you ski park in which case who cares you arn't gonna die from a binding blowout
^ i dont like being able to not ski and bc my bindings are broke and being fixed and having to through the whole process of mounting and such again and paying money so there.
well get some real bindings and don't cry about them being heavy or expensive, I've never seen a pair of FKS's break, and no other binding gets put through more big mountain punishment than the FKS
i don't really know why salomon are still doing ti models because the've been replacing that ti plate in the heel for a few years on various models of binding! they knew it wasn't durable enough so when it breaks on one of their skiers bindings they just put a heavier more durable plate in!
810's are what suck mine used to pre release and break all the time.they recently broke my friends collar bone when they pre realsed on a rail and he landed on the heel peice
