Line's Binding

I was skiing it on tuesday, and the binding is honestly no heavier than a look pivot binding.

i talked to a kid that was on them the other night...he'd used them twice and broke them just from skiing, they look like they have alot of plastic on them

The line binding is on that fucking huge riser thing and you want to be low to the ground for park skiing...and i was talking to this guy and he said if you over or under rotate a spin but just a bit they release

The Line binding looks like an interesting concept, and one that I think will eventually take over the ski binding world, at least when it comes to the mounting system and the way the binding is easily adjustable for all boots. Now I've said this before, but I'll say it again: The Line binding has a monocoque toe piece. That means ONE PIECE TOE PIECE. Look at your bindings. Count the number of pieces in your toe...you'll find you have 3. Why? Through discussions with shop techs, and being a former shop tech myself, you need those 3 pieces to keep DIN values, forward pressure, and release constant amongst different boots with different toe box sizes. So how does the Line binding, in its current form, deal with that problem?

I've skied on the Line binding, and I can attest to its quality. When riding on it, you don't even notice it. It's not like they just threw something together, they've been designing and testing it for years, and it works.

im not too convinced by the binding's ability- it seems like the toepiece and the heelpiece should both be solid with the ski, and unless the plate the bindings are on is super fucking stiff, i could see problems with the front or back of the binding ripping out or breaking. im sticking with salomon

The plate the bindings are on is super fucking stiff. It's a big piece of metal for gods sake. As far as releasing when you under or over-rotate a spin, isn't that what a binding is SUPPOSED to do? I mean, unless you enjoy having spiral fractures. I can tell you that they aren't nearly as fun as they sound, and you'll be out of commission for a minimum 3 months. Yay!

Anyway, I think it's fairly superb, and as soon as they come out with a jig for other skis, I'll suggest it wholeheartedly to any freestyler. They don't prerelease, meaning you can put your DIN where it's supposed to be and the ski will stay on when it's supposed to and release when it's supposed to, you don't have to crank it and risk injuring yourself on routine bails.
