my friend uses it and he says its pretty sick. hes gotten some expensive programs off there and games like Age of Empires III. can it have negative consequences to your computer like viruses/spyware or system problems?

YES!!!
I accidentally clicked and downloaded a rootkit trojan.
I had to system restore to get it out.

you can close out and restart or shutdown, come back in a few days and resume. see if you look at the incomplete file you will see it is huge, thus it has downloaded and saved. azureus will scan the file when you open it back up and start from where it left off. my azureus pulls too much data sometimes for my pipeline and will make my system shutdown
