i want somewhre in europe thats good and cheap and it doesnt matter if the town is a bag of shit as long as the skiing is good. what resort shud i go to?
If you want inexpensive, you should think about Slovakia or the Czech Republic. The Tatras are not shitty mountains by any standard, and the financial burden will be lower than most of the other European ski centers.
Russia is also a good option.
go to a thread a couple of pages back by a guy called joony, cant remember what its called. i told the best places to go for all different types of skiing. for cheapness, go to livigno, they are tax exempt and have awesome freeride. shitty lifts though
Eh... well, the czech republic is certainly (sp?) cheap, but you dont wanna go there if you want a large skiing area. Largest skiing area has around 25km of ski slope, although i heard that Splinderuv mlyn has a nice Pepsi funpark.
Russia is problematic though- I have friends who went there and my girlfriend is from there- visas and all that legal crap are hard even for just visiting, plus moscow is close to (if not THE) most expensive city in the world if you are flying into there.
The cheapest holidays I've had have always been really close to the departure date. Try checking lastminute.com or teletextholidays.co.uk a few weeks before you go, or leave it later if poss.
I've managed to get half board accomodation, flights and transfers for £199 before. You can end up in decent resorts as well, one year was 2alpes another was Soll in Austria.
For booking ahead, Bulgaria or Andorra (the tax free place) are pretty cheap. Eating and drinking in Bulgaria is way cheaper than France or Austria. For resorts in Bulgaria, try Bansko.
Avoid Scandinavia and Russia because they are seriously pricey for eating and drinking.
Sweden is pretty cheap i guess, Austria as well. But if you wanna go super-cheap you've got Bulgaria and Romania and such. You can buy a boxed litre of vodka there for about 50 cents.
