well i wouldnt buy it being that i dont get much snow since i live in philly and when i want to go urban skiing i dont even use twintips cause i dont have a backup pair of twintips.
But if i lived out wesst or up north and had the money and urban skied often id prolly buy it.
urban skis just get f'd up on cement and shitty rails, theres no point. just keep your old park skis and ripem to shreds. then buy new park skis, and repeat.
theres really no point, unless they wanna make a metal base or something ridiculously retarded. Urbans are fucked up skis. Im not sure if theres a significant number of skiers that urban rails yet, its not big enough.
Skis are getting too spacific. You need a ski for like every style now. i think that park skis should be for pipe and urban. And all around skis for the rest
You are all wrong that said it would be a bad Idea. If a company made a ski that was super light and had either really dull edges or plastic ones it would be the sickest thing ever. Then they would sell the skis for 100-200 bucks with a cheap light binding to go with it it would be one of the best Ideas ever.
I don't know if i would buy a ski that absolutely would not work on snow...a ski with plastic edges? That's not a ski, its an urban rail sliding plank. Good luck skiing on a plastic edge
i'd never buy a ski that was meant to be trashed. why not just pay a little extra, get quality mountain use out of it, then trash it once it's been replaced. why buy a BRAND NEW SKI to be destroyed? just doesn't seem right in my head
well you can do it on a snowboard. And obviously you wouldnt buy this if you didnt ski alot of urban, but it would be great for someone that needs a backyard/urban ski. Also good for rail jams and summer skiing.
I think it's the silliest idea ever. "Hey.... i'm gonna buy a $300 (minimum) pair of skis to take down steps." And why would an urban specific ski be any better than old beaters. Old beat skis will slide better, and who cares when you take massive core shots.
hahahahaha, you really think a ski for park and urban would work well? considering pipe skis are pretty much race-built, and urban skis are pretty much unridable on snow. lol. and no, i would never buy an urban ski.
hmm, Jon does have a pro model. Well, i consider it his pro model. It is the Mojo, and has his signature and name on every pair. so yeah... And Urban spec. skis are retarded.
I dunno, Forum snowboards makes the Street Dweller which is a urban-specific board and it sells damn well. It only costs about $150 in shops, maybe $100 on eBay. Who wouldn't buy a set of urban-designed skis for $150?
this thread seems liek this crazy dream i had the other day. i was thinking about edgeless skis like the above mention forum street dweller. if they made it why not skis. you could put some piece of shit binding on it and it would work fine plus you wouldnt catch and edge. id buy it
