i blow glass... i just started a few months ago but i've sold some glass in the shop already! it's fucking awesome... i've got to get my camera functioning and put some photos up.... you all have to see some of the shit my boss has glown.... he did a dub bub octopus... it is fucking instense... he sold it for 750 to some rich college kid... we were all bummed when it sold we were hoping it could stay in the case forever.
Yeha, its crazy fun. Just out of curiosity, how much do you pay to use the facility? If anything...I ussually get to use everything for free, if my old teacher is working.
this is basic. and i mean REALLY basic. Gather glass on blow pole, marvyr, blow, marvyr, then shape, glory hole every once in a while(heat up your subject), back to shaping, then put it in the anhealer when youre done. thats the basic jist of it. any disagreements? corrections?
i work at an independently owned glass studio and head shop. we only sell glass blown in our studio- most head shops... half the pieces in their cases are most likely shit they bought on the internet. all our blowers work exclusively for us, there's 10 of us who actually work at the shop but my boss is very chill and we let regular customers and chill locals come into the shop and learn the ropes and whatnot... i love it, it's the best job in the world. it's definitely not a good source of income... i spend more on gas getting to work than i make in my paycheck.... but it's fun.
making a cult on glassblowing would die pretty quick.
but on the otherhand ive seen some fucking amazing glassblowing sculptures and shit, they had some sweet little shop with guys working on stuff in some mall way back in the day when my family owned a nice little house(cottage steez) in the bahamas.
does the place you work at hook you up with like the tools for glass blowing or did you have to buy that shit yourself? cuz i bet that shit is super expensive.
my grandpa was one of the pioneers for glassblowing. He ended up doing alot of work for the military, and was a professor at caltech university or MIT.
definitely would be cool to learn some of that stuff.
