Front Page - Needed?

We were just talking about the front page (the one where you first login), and are wondering if it's really needed.

Personally, I just have the premium content page bookmarked and log in on the side. The first page seems like an unnecessary step to entering the site.

What do you think? Should we keep it?

im with ski_instructor_mike, have a flash page, that has the start page logo in the center, then come to the news page or whatever its called

yeah. that would be the NS logo. it would have it right in the middle. then it would fade out.

i say keep the front page, it makes the site more presentable and less cluster. but i like the ns symbol on it, i don't really like the graffity on it. isn't this a skiing site and not a pop culture site, then again that is just in my opinion.

As long as the 'guest' option is there, I think the front page won't scare off new people.

I know that was the case with me.

It probably is good to make it blatently obvious that it is a skiing website.
