Just to clear up any confusion you guys may have regarding how who got what, let me break it down. ESPN always doesn't show everything, hell they hardly show anything. For slopestyle, Tanner won cuz he was solid on the rails and went HUGE off his last hit. He too it farther down than anyone else. He used most of the course and he did some pretty cool, yet not super innovative, shit. Pep got second becuase he sketched on the first rail but he made up with that for moves the judges have never seen before. Innovation and progression were rewarded handsomely at this years Winter-X. Jon got 3rd becuase his run was rather technical, but not innovative at all. It was not HUGE like Tanner's or creative like Pep's. That is why he got 3rd. Steele got 4th becuase he used the entire run. He may not have had the most technical or solid run, compared to candide, but he used the whole goddamn course and he nailed that trapezoid. Thats how slopestyle was judged. Superpipe was super-ridiculous. You can't even fathom, unless you were there the electricity that was flowing up in that shit. Candide won, obviousley because he layed down ONE of the sickest runs of the...ummm...past...ever. He had a practice run that was better though, believe it or not. Tanner got second and beat out Jon becuase Tanner's run was super innovative. His bio-5 was pretty big, just as big as Jon, and he nailed some shit that is definitly more tech than Jon. Ally-oop to Bio-5 to Flatspin-5 to D-9 beats out two flairs and a D-9 for sure. If I could have taken the best runs of the day, including practice it might have gone something like this. CR in first. Candide closely behind in second and Simon in a close, but distant, 3rd. Simon had a practice run that was goddamn mcnasty. Thats how the breakdown goes, I know you guys were bitching about judging so I thought I would fill you in. Let me know your thoughts.
